Class of 2018 National Signing Day Thread - Tweets, Analysis and More

https://247sports.com/college/minnesota/Season/2018-Football/Commits

Yup, it's "official" now ... all 25 recorded as signed. Awesome deal! Amazing class! You gotta figure with the extra time to recruit, the recruiting is the life blood mantra, that next year's class will be even better...certainly best ever? At which point, the really good in 2019 sure seems possible and even likely.

Holy Cow! 25 in the house!

Congratulations to all of the committed players AND this staff !

Hmmmm.

All of those SEC offers reported over the last week (Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas A&M) were obviously fake, duh. Don't you know anything?

Also, all of the SEC offers reported by Dunlap and Faalele were fake as well.

Looks as though Dunlap, Faalele, Vic, Reigelsperger, Manns, Rush, Boe and Dickson?? set to enroll in January and spend time doing strength/conditioning w team and coaches and participating in spring ball. Huge to have that many doing that and getting a head start!

Not familiar with the "grayshirt", does this mean Logan will be counted towards the '19 class? Our first commitment possibly! ;)

I was not familar either. This is a Copy and paste from NCAA website.

Grey shirting is a recruiting term that is not as commonly used as the term redshirting. A grey shirt is an incoming college freshman who postpones his enrollment in classes until the second term of his freshman year. This means they don’t take classes until the winter term. The NCAA allows college athletes five years to complete four years of eligibility after initial enrollment.

When a grayshirt puts off his enrollment, he’s extending his eligibility past his senior year for another term. Grayshirting is most commonly used in football. By delaying enrollment until the winter after his senior year of high school, a football player can play the fall season one year after his graduation date.

However, in redshirting, an athlete is enrolled in classes and practicing with the team, but not competing in games. By postponing their participation in games, they extend their eligibility into a fifth year of school. They are allowed to practice and train, but don’t compete in games so they don’t lose a year of eligibility. Redshirting is also used when an athlete gets injured and won’t be back for the season.

It's cold out today. A great day to just sit inside with the tv on and revel in Gopher Football positivity!

Verdis has said on twitter he's not signing until the 22nd.. we have 2 days of waiting if there's space.

Does anyone know what the situation is? Somebody graduating early, late transfer, etc...

I believe Cordell Tinch is signing for track officially. The early signing for that was November. Otherwise its in April.

tl;dr Grey Shirting is what everyone on this board hates SEC teams for doing, but it's ok now.

I will admit I've never seen one play from the guy but Aune seems to me to be one of those guys that starts out on special teams and somehow winds up as your defensive caption and all-conference safety. Kid may never play a snap but I just get this vibe that in 4 years we'll all be glad he stayed home.
