This should be interesting. Tanner Morgan has been quarterback since the Joe Salem era, star RB Mohamed Ibrahim is back off a torn Achilles tendon, and the receivers are great. However, the O line is undergoing an overhaul and the defensive front is all but starting over.

Fortunately, there’s time to get going with New Mexico State and Western Illinois as nice scrimmages before dealing with Colorado. The road games at Michigan State, Penn State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin will be an issue, but it should be another strong season with a few nice upsets to help.

Realistic Best Case Record: 9-3
Realistic Worst Case Record: 6-6

I like how Sagarin bakes in pro Penn state and Nebraska bias right into his rankings.
 

Exactly how many times do we need to beat Nebraska to get ranked ahead of them? All I ever hear is that if you just win and prove it on the field that is how you earn respect but year after year things like this remain exactly the same despite winning and proving it on the field.

Probably ten in a row. We are on our way to that, and really should Provide Nebraska with a nice beat down this fall.....

We've handled Nebraska three years in a row now. That's not nearly enough, I guess. Advantage Nebraska?
 




5th in the West predictions starting a little early this year. Usually they wait for the spring game to be played to drop the Gophers behind all the teams they beat the prior year.

Because “metrics” based ratings prefer a 8-4 team with 4 close losses and some blowout wins to a 10-2 team with 2 blowout losses and a lot of close wins.
 

These guys care less about being accurate with these rankings than the average GHer

Looks like another trip down to Diamond Jo’s in Iowa to place a bet on the Gophers win total. It was profitable last year.
