Per Greg:

Losers

Minnesota not taking the next step

PJ Fleck has Minnesota in an interesting position. Not counting the COVID year the Gophers have gone 11-2, 9-4, 9-4 and then 5-7 this season. Yet the program’s recruiting profile has not changed at all. Their classes have consistently ranked from Nos. 30-50 every cycle it seems.

That was fine when the Gophers could count on playing a Big Ten West schedule every year. It won’t cut it as the Big Ten moves forward without divisions and adds USC, Oregon, Washington and UCLA. Minnesota missed a golden opportunity to raise the talent level in the program under Fleck. It is likely too late now.

Go Gophers!!

They have upgraded at QB, the most important position on the field, which is huge. Can’t really argue on the rest of it though.

Look at the quarterbacks in the Big Ten next season. Gophers are in a favorable position. Then look at the rushing attack, again pretty good. Have to be realistic here.

The veteran QB Max Brosmer is a big get. Strange, the article made no mention of that.

Brosmer "truly special":

I’d rather exceed expectations next year in the B1G 2.0 than fail to meet them. Bring on 2024.

Also appears to have no awareness of the effect of the NIL bagman revolution in recruiting upper-echelon players. The combination of benign but willful ignorance with ChatGP is going to increase the volume but decrease the sapience and relevance of paid commentary in years to come. Get used to it.
