Didn't see this posted earlier, but the Cornhuskers and Tim Miles just hired former Gopher Ben Johnson as an assistant coach.

I had read or heard somewhere that Johnson is considered an up-and-coming head coaching prospect. There's another thread on the board about who Tubby might hire if/when Jirsa leaves, and it gives a list of retreads from Tubby's past who could keep him in his comfort zone. Nothing against those potential candidates, but Miles has the right idea. Don't hire an assistant coach; hire a future head coach.

I'll never forget Ben Johnson's (De La Salle) dominant performance against Pryzbilla's Monticello team at Target Center when he was either a Junior or a Senior. Ben had a knack for driving and laying this soft arcing runner off the glass right over the swinging arms of Pryzbilla. He baffled Joel that night with his timing. I'm not sure but I want to say that Ben ended up with 40+ that night.
