Ben Johnson interview

We are seeing the awesomeness of Ben Johnson.

He paid his dues and learned a lot of important skills along the way. The most important is how to treat people the right way and to motivate players to achieve.

He makes time to connect with people from his past. He knows exactly what type of players he wants. The type of culture he is inculcating happened so fast.

The more we hear, the more we can say this is a home run hire.

It is quite a contrast between coaches. They are both likable people. Ben's humble sojourn from graduate assistant to assistant coach at the bottom of the pit in basketball coaching and being a college recruiter and assistant coach at different stops under different head coaches, you cannot put a price on that experience.

Experience
2013-presentAssistant CoachUniversity of Minnesota
2012-13Assistant CoachUniversity of Nebraska
2008-12Assistant CoachNorthern Iowa
2006-08Assistant CoachTexas-Pan American
2005-06Graduate AssistantUniversity of Dayton

All the lack of head coaching experience rumblings has quieted down.

I know I read somewhere about 10 years ago that Ben Johnson was a future Gophers Head Coach, glad he finally got here.

I like what he said about Gopher Athletics being aligned from top to bottom. This is the best it has been in decades.
