Shannon Brooks, Running Back, Minnesota

Minnesota's lack of home-run hitters has plagued them for a couple of years now. Brooks is the only skill player the Gophers have who can light up the scoreboard from anywhere on the field. He'll need to do just that early in the season in order to keep opposing defenses honest against an otherwise pedestrian offensive attack — especially through the air.

Go Gophers!!

We have several capable running backs. Brooks is very good, no doubt, but the drop off isn't the difference in not scoring. Leidner is clearly our most important guy. Leadership and ability. The drop off to the number two QB is quite a ways down. Our O Line as a group needs to stay healthy...our depth is not ready according to Tracy. We need our safety to stay healthy for his ability and leadership on defense, again according to Tracy. So Brooks is a luxury comparatively.

How dare he say such things about Mitcheroo! remember every bit of Mitcheroo's inability to be an effective qb may be placed on the coaching/injuries.

They actually didn't even reference him specifically so you could still say from the comment that the passing game as a whole hasn't been that good (WR, OL, Leidner, injuries, coaches).

But I know that goes against your "attack Leidner every chance I get" mentality.

I still maintain, if the OL can get actually provide Mitch decent coverage this year, our passing game will be more on the WRs and TEs abilities to catch the ball, and not Mitch's ability to throw.
