All Things Citrus Bowl/Orlando Travel Tips, Plans, Hotels, Tickets, Actities and More

I get the feeling sometimes his sole reason for being here is to tell people how wrong there are. Seriously, just about every post he makes is disagreeing with someone.

Guaranteed: Even as he reads these latest posts he is 100% convinced he is right about everything and by some weird coincidence EVERYONE else on GH is wrong. A typical Badger fan.

Has anyone used the SunRail? Looking to go from the airport to downtown on it. (Looks like you take a bus from the airport to the SunRail station?). May head to Cocoa Beach(car) - taking the kids. Disney/Universal just seem like they will be too crowded. Anybody know what time the Victory Walk before the game will start? I know we did it the last 2 years in Texas, but they were later games.

Took a few days to convince people to commit so I didn't purchase bowl tickets until yesterday so we are on Terrace instead of Field level, but at least I will be there! Our group of 4 couples decided to rent a house and went with https://www.villadirect.com/ $1500 for 4 nights 5 days for a 5 bedroom, pool, hottub, gameroom, kitchen house against a nature preserve is a nice price per night when u split the cost 4 ways. And there is plenty of indoor/outdoor party space.

So what day is the Gopherhole party?

May not be everyone's style (desire to be closer to bar/nightlife) but think if 15 students hop into an econoline 15 passenger van, split cost of gas and split cost of a place like this 15 ways. Super affordable. You could do it for about $200 per person including game ticket, and buy your own food and drink and just chill together in a house.

Or 15 GHers. Add in discussions about Phillip Nelson, Mitch Liedner, Limegrover, and ticket prices to pass the time during the 48-hours on the road and you have a real good time.

Sold. Count me in

I'm only coming if we designate a few hours for Adam Weber.

You guys are going to have a great time! That place looks super fun and perfect for multiple families or a GH holiday party.

Does anyone have any more details for the Gopher Tailgate event put on by the Alumni Association; how big is it? where is it? etc? Details are a bit sparse on the page, i'm contemplating buying two tickets..

Agreed. Can anyone provide any more info?

Would give the Alumni Association phone number a call to confirm your questions just to be safe. The number is 1-888-615-7656. But my educated guess is it will be pretty big people-wise and will likely be rather close to the stadium. Considering it is the official U of M Alumni Association tailgate/pre-game party, chances are pretty good the Citrus Bowl reps will have worked with them in advance to make sure they get a good space for all the people, food, beverage, entertainment set-up, etc. and close to the stadium.

Side trip idea: if any hunters are going or anyone into knives there is a place called Randall Knives in Orlando that has a shop/museum. They custom make some very quality knives, almost everyone in my hunting group has one. Wish I could afford bowling but just paid for a Puerto Vallarta trip in February. Maybe I'll see world traveler Gopher Lady there. :)

Ha! My February trip is actually Mazatlan, but close! :)

We said nuts to driving all the way there, got decent airfare on Southwest to ATL and rented a car for around $100
for Monday-Saturday.

per an e-mail from the U:

Can’t make it to Florida but you still want to support Coach Kill and Gopher Football? Purchase and donate a ticket to a University of Minnesota student or military personnel in Florida.

Gopher Athletics has partnered with the Army’s 143rd Sustainment Command in Orlando, as well as the MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa to provide a Gopher Gameday Experience to local military service men and women. Additionally, Gopher Athletics has once again arranged for a travel package for U of M students to cheer on the Gophers in Orlando. To purchase and donate a ticket, please visit MyGopherSports.com.

Go Gophers!!

The Billd's are doing the Atlanta drive too.

NOTE: Watch your speed at CORDELE, which is about 60 or so miles south of Atlanta. As you come to this area from the north (from Atlanta) or south (from Orlando) there is usually a county or city officer there with the radar gun.

I've traveled this route off and on for almost 40 years and this is a constant. Whether this is a speed trap or not is hard to say...they are almost ALWAYS there so if you live there you know to drop it back a little.

You know you're there because the median goes from grass to concrete. Watch out at that point.

I also believe this is where the speed limit might drop from 70 to 65 too...but just don't recall.

Good luck.

Thanks for the heads up! My brother and I are gonna swap driving in Valdosta, perhaps I should have him
take his turn through here ;)

Yesterday you could rent a van from MSP through Hotwire for about $450 for a week. With gas prices low, that is a very reasonable way to go if you like to make it a road trip.

FYI if anyone wants to spend a few days on the ocean after the bowl game rental cars drop in price significantly on 1/3 and 3* hotels on Daytona Beach are under $100 per night.

I am luckily on the bus already with one friend, but have about six friends who are currently on the wait list. They received the following email last night:

University of Minnesota Students,

Thank you for your interest in the student travel package for the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl. We are in the process of adding additional buses for the road trip. On Monday, December 15th we will be calling everyone on the wait list to inform you if your priority has been selected to purchase a travel package. If your wait list priority has been selected, payment for the travel package must be provided no later than Tuesday, December 16th at 12:00pm. If payment is not received by that time, your reservation will be forfeited.

For any other questions, please call the Gopher Sales & Service Department at 1-800-U-GOPHER. The Gopher Sales & Service Department is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hollinsanity; also post that under it's own thread. My opinion at least. It's pretty important and with the part about getting on the wait list and getting money in is Monday, students browsing the board should see it.

Accidentally posted that here and have already edited my post in this thread and posted in the Student Trip thread, my apologies.

No need to apologize. I thought you should also give it an O.P. of it's own! :)

We received our email with our seat assignments! Section P35 Row S.
