We actually got really lucky with the weather - it cleared up just in time for the game, and we even got some sunshine! Here are a few photos if you weren't able to make it:

Come on Bayfield, there were at least 2K there ;)

Honestly - I actually told Bleed this when he asked me my thoughts, I don't get into dissecting the spring game. We're playing ourselves, and you can't really tell too much from that. I don't really let it get me too excited or depressed. Nothing I saw really stood out - oh, except I think Ellestad kicked a 51 yard FG, that was impressive. I'm sure others will chime in though...

we aren't a college town there are other things to do, plus why put it during spring jam students want to drink not watch football

I am no longer living in MN, so I didn't know it was spring jam, but that is some awful planning.

Penn State on national TV with their game. Maybe if we played a real game - three hours, like most schools, and gave it plenty of advance publicity, we'd draw more than 2,000. Holtz played a real game here and drew 40,000.

There were, I would guess, 2 or 3,000 or so at the game. There were just as many this year as last year if not more. Many people stayed up in the concourse and under the roof that covered the first few rows - the parking lot around the stadium was full as well as some cars in the Northstar and other lots. Considering the rain I thought the turn out was pretty good

My father and I didnt make the trip, we live 3 hours away and the rain/short game/spring game wasnt enough for us to want to go. Thnaks for the pics though!

Had it been the normal sunny day we've seen these past couple weeks, I'm sure we'd have drawn over 5k. Tired of these negative creeps.

But not unless they've reached the age of majority. I mean, otherwise they should be permanently banished from whatever school-sanctioned group they belong to and maybe even be suspended indefinitely. What's more, because that's not enough punishment, each one ought to have a sign hung around their neck proclaiming that individual a "thug" or "bad person" or whatever other cheap moniker someone on this board can conjure up. The big thing is, get these malcontents out of our university!

Just saw the 51 yard FG on the news. There were no defenders trying to block the kick. He might as well have been out there by himself kicking off a tee.

I guess Brewster thinks his "Special Forces" are good enough so they don't need to work on blocking kicks.

Brewster knows that 70% of football injuries occur on special teams. I think he was being smart.

Yeah, those injuries probably occur on kick-offs or punt returns, not FG attempts. These players could get hurt just as easily by slipping in the shower.

70% you say? Did you know that 86% of all statistics are made up?

Sorry to disagree, but if I had a guess, I'd say between 500 and 800 were there, and I'm being generous.

I think the potential bad weather kept some away, but the weather turned out to be just about perfect by game time.

Don't let the non stop, 24/365 sour puss attitude or 3,000 + posts on a GH fool ya, Art is a HUGE gophers fan. He saw the gophers highlights on the NEWS!

I love Maturia announcing 4,500 there. The difference between this year and last is amazing. The team looked so much better last year. And the crowd was more enthusiastic.

The whole game they announced fans who wanted autographs should go to section 125. Then at the end of the game they told them to go to the concourse. What is going on Maturi?

ummm, its because 125 was the section closest to where you take the ramps down to the field (the ramp is off the concourse in the back). They didn't want everyone congregating in the concourse and walking down the ramps before the game ended.

This is the correct answer. I would have gone if not for the weather. We have a 16 month old daughter and it just didn't make sense to brave the weather with her.

No way. This is a gross underestimation. There were at least that many people gathered in the concourses alone. Tough to say exactly, but somewhere within a wide range of 2,500-4,000 would be correct.

lol

The next thing is that we will be told that there was only 8 fans in the whole stadium, the estimates seem to be getting lower all the time. It was not well-attended, but the pictures don't seem accurate - I'm sure they were accurate at the time they were taken, but people did straggle in.

Great insight. I was there, and others on this board can vouch for my attendance. I can virtually guarantee the same cannot be said for you.

I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that the attendance was much larger than 800. Like, say, 3 to 4 times that amount.
