"He has set this program up for great success that will be remembered for years to come," interim athletics director Beth Goetz said.

Though he's spearheaded a turnaround from a wins and losses standpoint, perhaps the biggest accomplishment in Kill's tenure is the fact that on Friday the school is scheduled to break ground on $166 million Athletes Village project.

"The Athletes Village is a key component for what our program wants to do moving forward," Goetz said. "There's no doubt Coach Kill was instrumental in selling that vision. And as we break ground on Friday this week, and when that building is constructed, in the future when our student-athletes are working out there and studying, that will be a piece of his legacy. It's such an important piece of what he has helped this school become."

University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler reiterated those sentiments in regards to Kill and his fundraising abilities.

"I think the program is enormously advanced from where it was when he arrived," Kaler said. "We are grateful for his service and the sacrifices he's made to move us forward."
