Guessing Auburn won't lose any of their recruits if they want to keep them, great hire by them getting Bruce Pearl

Too bad Anas didn't pick Wake Forest....

Ben Howland would be a great hire by any of these schools.

Sandy Cohen anyone?

I kind of hate the idea of raiding Marquette though since that is where I got my J.D. If they are going to lose players I'd prefer they go to Minnesota though.

How the hell did Virginia Tech get Buzz Williams? I thought he was a long shot dream candidate for the Gophers last year. With Norwood's relationship with Buzz, you'd think we could have landed him. Maybe we didn't try? Don't take this as a shot at Pitinio at all, I like what I've seen from him so far, but Buzz seems like a slam dunk hire.

He didn't like the new Big East and he was worried about who Marquette might hire as the new AD (it is currently vacant).

For recruiting purposes, the Gophers were in on both Sandy Cohen and Marial Shayok. You hope that having 3 scholarships available at this point in the recruiting cycle could become an advantage.

This probably means shaka isn't going anywhere

And Maine trudges onward with Mighty Ted Woodward

And somehow Maine coach Ted Woodward remains the Black Bears head coach. Woodward must have some dirty laundry on the UMaine athletic administration.

117-177 in 10 years in Orono, including 6-23 in 2013-14. Has completely trashed a program that former coach John Giannini had turned into a solid America East contender.

64-84 in America East, including a dreadful 4-12 in 2013-14.

Has only two winning conference seasons, the last in 2010-11.

For good measure, was swept this season by D-I & America East newbie UMass-Lowell, with both losses by double-digits.

And my favorite, what I think is one of the most amazing stats in all of college basketball. ...

Woodward still has a job despite the fact he's been one-and-done in every America East Tournament since 2006. That's 9 straight seasons without a conference tournament win in a 1-bid conference where winning in the postseason tournament is pretty much all that matters. Even more amazing, some of those one-and-dones have come in the play-in round, when Maine was one of the bottom 3 or 4 seeds. Woodward isn't even a blind squirrel that finds an acorn once in awhile.

This probably means shaka isn't going anywhere

Not saying Shaka is leaving, but why would this mean he isn't? VCU probably doesn't promote within if they lose Shaka.

I did not know there was as much hoops talent in Seattle as there appeared to be in that video, even granting it is a highlight tape.

There have been a lot of Seattle born NBA players over the years. It's an undrrrated city for recruiting.

Masiello no longer going to south Florida
A coach without a team?

Manhattan wouldn't take him back, would they?

VCU has thrown a lot of money at Mike Rhodes over the years to keep him around and have him eventually take over for shaka if he left. If there was any chance shaka would leave this year, Rhodes would not have taken that Rice job since the VCU job is a much better job, and I'm sure Shaka let him know they situation before he took the Rice job

word has it that Marquette has reached out to Cuonzo Martin, quite the step down from shaka if you ask me
