With Brown committing today, the Gophers have eight more scholarships to give? Am I interpreting the TDG scholarship grid correctly?

http://www.thedailygopher.com/pages/football-scholarship-grid

If this is true, they'll be catapulting over a few teams in the B1G team ranking when it's all said and done.

According to the grid, I believe you are correct. But with any team, there will be attrition via a variety of channels, so I expect the class to be larger than what is shown on that grid.

per Sid:

• One reason three-star tackle Quinn Oseland — who had over 20 Division I scholarship offers, according to Rivals.com — picked the Gophers is because his coach, Ken Leonard of Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in Springfield, Ill., sent several players to Northern Illinois when Kill was there. The word is Leonard, who has coached there since 1984, was very influential in this highly recruited player committing to Minnesota.

Did Charlie Rogers come up for his scheduled visit (ala 247Sports) today?

I'm assuming this tweet is about Rogers' visit, so it looks like it started last night.

Fogo De Chao! That is a meat lover's paradise. Good place to bring recruits to. I didn't eat for three days after the last time I brought a friend and his wife there for his retirement. Next time, I am going to fast for three days before I eat there. Then I am going to check in to the Radisson or the Mariott.

That's good to hear. Kill's reputation pays off.

Go Gophers!!

whatever. If he was choosing that over a B1G game like the badgers then I would say god riddance. I doubt he comes here anyway, seems like the kid wants to get away.

Losing Carlberg isn't the biggest deal. Would love to see him in maroon and gold, but I'm comfortable with our oline commits this year.

Can we maybe do a separate thread to track committed players results throughout the year? Not one for each player, but just a thread for news on recruits and one for results from those that are already committed?

Go Gophers!!

He gone...just a matter of time before he chooses Nikegon.

Demry Croft throws for 415 and runs for 108 in season opening win!!! Nice start!!

Lawd! I'm excited for that guy. He looks picture perfect for this program.

"ROCKFORD (WREX) - The Boylan Titans had to wait almost two hours in a lightning delay, but the NIC-10's eight-time defending conference champions rallied for 35 unanswered points to beat Auburn, 41-13, to open the 2014 season.

Following the delay after the first quarter, the second quarter was a dizzying twelve minutes. The Knights were without starting quarterback Christian Lopez, who was injured prior to the inclement weather, but it didn't stop Dan Appino's group from taking a 13-6 lead into the break. Back-to-back fumbles by both teams, a blocked punt, and a kickoff return touchdown featured the game's important third element before both teams could take a breather.

Boylan responded with a huge second half behind future Minnesota Golden Gopher Demry Croft, who engineered big touchdown drives with his arm and legs for the Titans. John Cacciatore's squad has now won 75 straight conference games, and extends its winning streak over Auburn to 17 years in a row since their homecoming loss in 1997."

As he should. He is on his HS team after all.

Excellent catch but what does it say about the others who didn't make that connection?

Killjoy, numerous commentors make expert statements about which they know nothing.

You know that as well as I.

Go Gophers!!

This is a really stupid tweet, and a non-event. It's amazing to me that as grown men we are actually paying attention to this.

If the Gophers invited him to the Badgers game and he declined to go because he really wanted some Chipotle that night...I'd be worried.

Frankly, I would hope that he spends time with his team and then checks out a future opponent, rather than him coming to our game against an FCS team. He's still a kid and an Islander and he should be soaking up that experience.

For the record, I hope he comes here but I am not going to crucify him if he waits another 5 months and decides he isn't. Just as long as he knows we are talking to other prospects, too.

Given recent developments, I'm guessing recruiting Carlberg as a DT makes a bit more sense now. Are there any other DT's on their radar?

It's been pretty quiet on the recruiting front, and not many official visits have been set.

So guys we've got coming in the future for officials would be (that are uncommitted):

Alonzo Craighton 9/5
Shannon Brooks 9/5
Willie Sykes 9/19
Hunter Register 10/17
McKinley Whitfield 10/17

Are there any other non-committed guys visiting in the future here that are scheduled or are rumored to be besides Carlberg?

Of note: Carlberg is scheduled to visit UNC this coming weekend.
