    Disillusionment

Simple enough solution, you've got some employee/employer relationship issues but why is it any different than graduate assistants being paid to teach classes. "But the way this is set up right now with no contracts or regulations makes it impossible to sustain anything in this sport.”

    Disillusionment

Miami basically bought a Final Four two years ago, it was obvious what the future was going to be. Really took off this year though.

Wisconsin - Hepburn Iowa - Perkins Kind of run of the mill if you ask me, this is even the same position.

College Basketball Transfer Portal Thread - 2024

I have to guess he will want to go somewhere he can play, not guaranteed at a P6 program, more likely to get some NIL and playing time at a mid major. Hope they can get him.

Oregon transfer Brennan Rigsby commits to MN

247 has him listed as a PG, he will at least be a combo guard. Really fills a need.

    No need to panic! Yet.

I agree, what will be hard to replace is Hawkins shooting, that really made a difference, defensively because of his size Hawkins was a liability that shouldn't exist anymore. I would use Hawkins as an example for those who claim Johnson can't coach. He wasn't that good to start the season...

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

Having an agent and being in the portal are two different things entirely, an agent is there to find the best NIL deal and let's face it that is through the schools collectives. The communication that goes on between the collective and the program is another issue all together, that is where the...

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

This is another example of why I don't think it is poaching, Hawkins got an agent who then reaches out to his contacts to find out what he would command in the market place, then communicates it to his client, who decides to enter the portal.

    Who bought the Hawk?

Agents put the name out their to see what they can get, pretty sure they can hire an NIL agent. So far it doesn't seem like a preset destination exists. Look at Payne, he wasn't poached and is still looking. It doesn't feel like the Wisconsin players were poached.

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

Totally different thing, football has many more impact players. PJ didn't do to well with the skill players that stand out. Lost a boat load of quarterbacks and running backs

    BREAKING: Elijah Hawkins to transfer

Coaches are going to look at the NIL treasure chest available before they even consider a job. That will be one of the driving factors in attracting new coaches.

    Frank Mitchell commits

I agree, that is on the coach though, recruiting to a certain extent. Study endurance activity, you've got about a 15 week cycle where you can go all out before the body breaks down and needs rest. You can either lower activity levels or take a break.

Payne in portal (UPDATED: Payne commits to Texas A&M)

That is crazy, what is it about 30 per year that ever play in the NBA. Not sure what the numbers are for over seas opportunities, 250 total so maybe 50 a year. So a few percent will continue with basketball as a career and for most probably not that lucrative of a career. They can't blame anyone...

    Any chance of a return?

He's visiting Texas and Texas A&M. If he still does not have a commitment after that then there may be a possibility, highly doubt full though.

Pharrel Payne visiting Indiana this week.

The tv contracts the SEC and Big Ten have negotiated for football and basketball say otherwise. Schools found a way to pay for the plethora of athletic programs they cannot afford. Can't have your cake and eat it to. Sure it's tied to universities but not in a very ethical manner.

    Gopher Potential Portal Pursuits

He's 6'8 and 240, why can't he defend the 5, he would not be a rim protector similar to Payne but straight up he should be able to defend in the middle if he is actually 6'8.
