Anas Osama Mahmoud Commits to Louisville

That's according to Ryan James' Twitter feed. Why would it be an "unofficial visit" this late in the process?

Does not have an offer yet? Maybe they don't want to flip the bill for a player they may not offer, especially when he is an in-state kid.

Rivals and 247 are both reporting that Florida offered. Hopefully, Donovan will convince him that Minnesota is the best place for him.

Thought this was funny

Commit to GT, we have plenty of playing time! Our coach is an idiot so we don't win much, but we will likely get a new coach in the next year or 2, so I wouldn't worry too much about it, with you and a new coach on board, we'll likely get back to our winning ways! We have good engineering school too

PG is not idiot ok? he is a great coach and even if i'm not gonna be there i'll always say that :)

I'll be very surprised if he doesn't end up at Florida.

I would be a lot happier losing him to Florida rather then GT

His response didn't sound like it was coming from a guy going to Georgia Tech.

Ummmm, I thought Louisville was no longer in the mix?

According to @jdemling, Anas Mahmoud just committed to Louisville. #Gophers wanted the big man.

Dammit Rick I thought we were on the same side.

Welp, that was fast. Wonder what happened. Weird as hell Rick would say he turned us on to him because they already had enough commits at his position.

Do we know for sure that he wasn't referring to Bakary Konate when that comment was made by the elder Pitino?

Louisville certainly won't have any shortage of size next season.

Perhaps Anas cooled on Minny and then Rick ramped up the recruiting of him?

Yeah I think so. The family Anas was staying with in Orlando has Louisville connections. It isn't 100% clear in the Q&A article since Mahmoud's name was added in parentheses by the author, but the way I took it was that Rick told him who the player was off the record and since coaches can't comment on recruits it was included in the quote.

This sucks. But that we can be disappointed that we didn't get an out-of-state kid with offers from Louisville and Florida says something I guess.
