Rating Leidner's skills...

10. Because if it isn't clear that Leidner is the best QB on the roster right now, you really have no clue what you're talking about.

Do you? Because you're telling us that Leidner is the best qb when we've barely seen Streveler play (1 for 7 could have been Mitch's stat line a few games), we've not seen Perra or Rhoda play yet, and we don't even know what talent Croft or Poljian have yet.
You were probably one of those guys that was telling Patriots fans, "Don't you know that Drew Bledsoe is the best qb on this team. That nobody Brady is a 6th round pick for God's sake!"

Considering Poljian will be in high school this upcoming season, I doubt we see him challenge Leidner this year.

Unlike you, I've seen Streveler, Rhoda, and Perra play plenty at practice. For all Mitch's warts and inconsistency, it's really not even close.

Every Gopher fan wants hope, which to some means believing that we have the 2nd coming of Aaron Rodgers on the roster but the coaches just won't give him a chance. Whatever it takes to make you sleep at night my friend, keep on believing it...

You do realize that the coaches have seen Streveler, Perra, and Rhoda play, right? Many many times. You do get that, right. Seems obvious to me, but I get the impression from your posts that you may not realize that. Or maybe your point is that they aren't good enough to recognize who is best from hours and hours of evaluation in practice? Please tell me you aren't going with the 'gamer' theory? Oh boy.

Beat Bucky is quickly establishing himself as one of the dumbest posters on this board. Maybe someone should cue him in that to prove his "point" about back-up QBs, he had to go back 20 years to the NFL for an example...

"We want Bledsoe!" "We want Bledsoe!"
You know what's really funny, if you listen to Coach Kill and you read between the lines, you'll hear that he's not as 100% committed on the qb situation as some of our posters seem to be.

I stand corrected on Poljian. Thanks.

You stand corrected on just about every post.

Since you now know he is going to be in high school this fall you might next try spelling his name correctly - Poljan.

beat bucky is a troll. Or.....if he prefers......an idiot.

You know, I really hope many of Leidner's fans are right and that he becomes a great qb.
Its just that I've been playing and watching football a long, long time and its been my experience that, after a couple of years, you can pretty much gauge what a player's talents and shortcomings are. That is, Drew Brees was great in his first couple of games, Philip Nelson was inconsistent in every game.
But again, I hope Leidner is the exception.

Okay...he prefers the label of an idiot.

Drew Brees played in eight games as a freshman. He completed 44.2 % of his passes with 0 TDs and 1 interception.

You should read the stats more closely. Drew Brees was a "backup" in 7 games in his first season, to Billy Dicken. What did he do as a first year starter? Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, Second Team All Conference coaches poll, 16th in Heisman balloting, set BigTen and Purdue records for passing attempts, completions, yards (3,983), tds (39), completed 63.4% of his passes...well I could go on, but I think I've just destroyed your feeble argument.

The next time I see a terrible train wreck on YouTube, I'll picture this thread.

Oh and btw, his first year as a starter, Drew Brees threw for a school record 522 yards vs MINNESOTA, 31 for 36 at an 86% completion rate, not to mention he won the Alamo Bowl vs K State with a td pass in the last 30 seconds.

You should read your own posts more closely. You stated: "That is, Drew Brees was great in his first couple of games..."

That was answered. And now you're moving the goalposts.

Why don't you just sit back, and have a nice cup of Shut the **** Up?

That's pretty funny. But I'm just destroying this guy's poor research. No one expects Leidner to become Drew Brees.

Apparently you do, otherwise why keep bringing him up.

You have an interesting idea of what "destroying" means.

OK. Starts. It doesn't change my point Einstein.

Well, actually is does change your point 180 degrees. When someone points out the fallacy of your argument, it is not incumbent upon the other poster to divine your intention.

This thread has more replies than any other on this board other than the recruiting thread. So maybe some people think its interesting.

People like to watch train wrecks. Your argument is destroyed.

Let me explain this to you sloooowwwwlllyyy. The point is that a football evaluator can tell pretty quickly if a qb who is playing full time has "what it takes". I used Drew Brees as the example and you throw out a straw argument. Just ask Joe Tiller if he recognized Brees' talents pretty quickly. The answer would be yes.
In his FIRST YEAR AS STARTER, Brees threw for 1/3 of Leidner's total season passing yards IN ONE GAME. Get it?

I say we throw in Perra, Rhoda and Streveler in for quarters 1, 2 and 3 against TCU just to get this guy to shut up. That way, Jerry Kill, who is a football evaluator, will be able to tell pretty quickly if they have what it takes. That's your argument, right? Because months of practice aren't good for evaluating QBs.

#PlayTheBackups

You can't really tell what a kid's gonna do until he plays a few full games. But you never know what circumstances might arise that could lead to a backup getting some time.

You are having fun now aren't you? Yes, and Brees played in the same offense as we've ran here with Mitch.

Chandler Harnish, NIU. Look up his progression under Kill and Limegrover.

Tell me it doesn't look a hell of alot like Mitch Leidner thus far. The only difference is that Leidner is playing a tougher schedule, and has better rushing numbers.
Harnish as a senior(which Mitch won't be until the 2016 season in two more seasons) was unreal as a QB.
