Soooooo, the guy that shut down all international travel from China in late January is now accused of "downplaying"?

Is that what we're going with now? Trump shuts down travel in January and in mid-late February Pelosi is urging people to Chinatown and Cuomo is telling people to go about your business, nothing to see here.

And people like Wally and Howie actually buy this stuff.
Give it up, Ogee. The tape proves Trump knew it was bad (he appears to believe that it was even worse than many of us who took it very seriously believed) yet he downplayed it constantly and admitted he did. Look, we all know what we heard in public statements and they are easy to resurrect for anyone who has the motivation.

I've actually gained some respect for Galt. He freely admits that Trump is a dirtbag but says he will vote for him because he likes his policies and hates the idea of government by Democrats. He may not be an altruist but at least he has some honesty and objectivity.

In case you missed my post on the virus thread:

Trump, March 30 press conference:

“The statements I made are that I want to keep the country calm. I don’t want panic in the country. I could cause panic much better than even you (the press)... But you know what I don’t wanna do that. I want to have our country become and strong And fight and win...”

Almost identical to what he told Woodward.

The MSM is a total joke!

Yes! This sentiment is consistent with the overall calming intentions of IMPOTUS’ public addresses. Good call! 👍

Not only willing to lick his boots, but willing to bend over backwards to do it.

At least you're loyal, I suppose.

Well, this was over hyped....

Trump and Cohen attended an outlandish strip show in Las Vegas alongside the Azeri-Russian oligarch family, the Agalarovs, Cohen writes.
Cohen claims the act “involved two strippers drinking champagne and pretending to snort coke as they undressed, while one of them simulated giving the other a golden shower as the other caught the fake urine and drank it.”
Cohen says he personally didn’t witness that part of the show, but that he learned that it was performed that night from a post he saw on the club’s Facebook page.

Reporting actual facts is bending over backwards?

Sure. Facts you don’t like.

Or maybe you could explain how it’s “bending over backwards”?

If Clinton had won in 2016 and there were only a 5-digit death toll from this virus, the Republicans would have still strung her up, and newspaper editorial pages would have called for her resignation. Newspapers called for her husband's resignation for lying about oral sex. Where are the editorials now? Trump's intentional deception and inaction have surely led to tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths in the United States, a country we all claim to love.

I don't blame the trolls and cultists on this board. They're the 15 percent of the population that are going to do their troll-y and culty thing. I blame the mainstream population, government institutions, and fourth estate for normalizing this situation for four years and failing to live up to what their end of the bargain ought to be in a functioning society. The last four years show us that we don't have one.

Let's be honest. If Hillary had won in 2016, you could easily and reasonably argue that a career politician like herself, with aspirations of re-election, would have been INFINITELY slower to respond with anything remotely close to lockdowns, would NEVER have shut off travel from China until probably April (if ever) and she would have had the MSM machine supporting her every decision (like the very popular "there's nothing more she could have done". Even you would agree with that, Bad.

There isn't a doubt in anyone's mind that Trump made mistakes in handling this unprecedented (as in never in our history) event, but to think that in a re-election year a career politician like Hillary would have done MORE to shut things down or done it faster is so completely laughable I doubt any of the Dems on here would think to argue it

I actually agree with alot of that. But I think the execution would have been better. Trump unplanned off the cuff European travel ban actually was the biggest spreader event IMHO. Did you see the planes and airports after that, he told no one in advance and no planning. Huge crowds packed in airports waiting in lines. This is what kicked of the massive surge here. It was an epic blunder.

You can quell fears without sowing distrust, confusion, and animosity. You can quell fears without lying.

MPR this morning had a good segment timelining Trump's public remarks & his Woodward interviews, playing the sound bites in sequence. This is no longer "fake news" or "deep state". This is Trump in his own words corroborating what others have long said.

You are stating the blatantly obvious. But the shills don’t care. Time for another Benghazi hearing.

Bad troll post. Trump clearly has no aspirations of re-election. None.

Also, Trump is definitely not a politician. Not at all. The presidency is not a political office occupied by Trump.

But the minorities are going to ruin your suburbs and depress the value of your homes! Panic!
You’re actually comparing the concern for a global pandemic to Trump’s comments about MS-13?

How much time has been devoted to each? Has Trump had daily press briefings for MS-13?

And you are inserting the ”minorities” term. Trump NEVER said minorities are coming to ruin your suburbs. In fact, he said that suburbs are integrated and the concern was about mandatory low income housing requirements for the suburbs.

Pathetic of the righties to defend this. It would have been very possible for Trump to have been straight forward and honest with the American public and still not cause any panic. He simply needed to lay out his plan and be clear that he and the government will do everything to protect us. Instead he may have literally cost people their lives. We’re talking about death here and righties still defend it. Absolutely shameful.

Let's try another.

Weak.

There is no comparison for Covid. It is THE most significant global health crisis in a century.

But if you want to compare Trump’s campaign comments to something, compare them to Biden’s campaign comments.

How about this 2018 goodie:

Panic! The immigrant caravan is coming to our border. They're going to invade us! The democrats are going to let them take over our country! Panic! Save the country, vote GOP!

Yep and guess who stopped them? That would be Trump and future caravans were stopped with the help of Mexico using troops to enforce the border and send the caravans back home. We get that you want illegal immigration TS.

Yeah, I'd quit if I were you too. Trump loves to instill fear and panic in people. It's his go-to strategy.
Your deepest fear is that we don't turn towards globalism and socialism.
