These numbers in SD are actually low. They have now given nearly 15,000 residents their first shot.

Meanwhile hospitalizations which were at 607 in mid-November, are down to 288 (53% decline) with no shutdown of businesses.

It's amazing how much more competent the healthcare system is in SD compared to MN.

But I hate their governor, so not sure how to process this news.

Maybe hiring a Philosophy major to head the MDH wasn't the best idea?
Philosophy is the talk on a cereal box
Religion is the smile on a dog

Process the news that they have almost twice as many deaths percapita as MN, and we have the disadvantage of all our boarder states. And the disadvantage of getting the virus much earlier because we have people and businesses who travel. The Dakota's have every possible built in advantage and they did horribly.

Logic fail.....

Good point. South Dakota does exist in the 19th century.

But this particular philosopher is super good at philosophy and stuff so at the time hiring them to run MDH seemed like a great idea.

Not necessarily Walz-related - but:
The state Dept of health came out this week and announced that HS Winter sports could begin playing games on January 14th.

BUT - as part of the guidance, they also announced that Basketball and Hockey players must wear masks during games - which has a lot of people up in arms. Wrestling and Swimming and Diving get an exemption from the mask rule.

Government at it's finest, don't they realize that Wrestlers have closer contact than anyone? Absurd

Well, she is one of the Governors who could have done something.
Comparing Kristi Noem and Walz is in many ways similar to comparing SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and B1G commissioner Warren.

You can argue the merits of the decision each of them made in their respective scenarios but in both cases, one of the two (Noem and Sankey) stood up and took strong leadership positions and made the best decisions they could make with the information they had while the others (Walz and Warren) showed zero leadership and responded pathetically for the most part, and their respective organizations are still paying the price today.

Leadership. Plain and simple.

2800 Minnesota Covid death certificates examined so far and 800 do not show Covid as an underlying cause of death. 29% faked for profit and politics

They say they reviewed 2800 death certificates and up to 800 don’t show Covid as the underlying cause. Not really sure why they say ‘up to 800’ or how they got 40%. An earlier review across the country showed 92% of death certificates included in Covid deaths had Covid as the underlying cause.

Noem has led SD to one of the highest covid death rates per capita. Horrible/nonexistent leadership. Walz is making her look like a fool.

Much of it.
How many international airports?
Well, then you are going to be pleasantly surprised to find out that the airline industry has developed a special situation known as a connecting flight. You should check it out.

It also might surprise you that some South Dakotans actually have automobiles that they can use to drive to other nearby airports, such as those in the Twin Cities or Omaha. Really, the possibilities are endless for those lucky few South Dakotans that own automobiles.
