The truth, as you actually know (but disgracefully lie about) is that Trump has tried desperately to continue to give aid to individuals and business who are affect. The Dems in congress want to bail out corrupt Democrat states that have locked their populations down (illiberally Yasha Mounck) with bloated sums of money. Trump has asked to put a trillion plus on the table and in fact he asked Mnuchin to up the ante days ago.

The economy has been really killed by about 10 blue states and now they want to be subsidized for their ongoing authoritarian decisions. All of the states with 10% plus unemployment are blue states with severe lock down policies and many with worse Covid results than the free states. See for yourself:

Can you point to Trump making any public statements to influence negotiations, or is he too busy complaining about Chris Wallace?

A VERY big part of the President's job is to work with Congress. Has he met with anyone, even Republicans?

See here:

Here's the deal JTF. What Trump knows is that the Dems would take the extra trillion and give it to the states to bail themselves out, so that states can continue these insane lock downs. Essentially taking a trillion dollars and running it right down the sewer.

The sticking point in these negotiations is not giving money to the American people and helping compensate for what the state governments and China have done to their lives, but rather the prevention of further corruption in blue states. You know this.

A) Trump talked about it once two weeks ago. That's one more than I thought, I guess.

B) You realize that this article talks about him endorsing a bi-partisan bill, right?

Bi-partisan has to include reason. Reason has departed the Democrat party because it is now controlled by the hard left.

The hard left seeks to do long term and permanent damage to this nation. Why? Because a strong America is the only real road block to their dream of globalism and socialism and ultimately global governance. A strong America will not submit to that. That is why the left wants to defund the military, defund the police (to allow chaos), abort our children, sew racial division, open the borders and break the nation financially.

Only then, in the minds of leftists who want to destroy our history, will a more just and equal world result. It is seen in all the initiatives of the left. Global warming, education, socialism, government health care, immigration policy, stupid trade deals that favor other nations and screw the US, critical race theory, and on it goes.

A poll was released just yesterday which asked what was more important, a COVID relief bill, or approving a Supreme Court Justice. Results were : COVID relief bill - 74% , vs approving Supreme Court justice - 26%.

after Trump sent out his tweet, the Dow Jones dropped 500 points. Multiple economic analysts, including the Fed Chair, have said that without more stimulus, the economic recovery could stall. One analyst said it could potentially lead to a double-dip recession.

my gut feeling - Trump and/or the Republicans did not want Pelosi to be able to take any credit for negotiating a new stimulus bill. Trump himself is blaming Pelosi for "not negotiating in good faith."

Trump will burn it down on his way out, he doesn't care
It wouldn't surprise me at all if he tried to take revenge on a country that voted him out of office. The question is whether GOP members of Congress follow suit in the lame duck session. Some of them will also be on their way out.

I can only assume that McConnell has determined that Biden is likely to win and he wants Biden to inherit a recession
This has to be it. They know it's over, so let's f__k the country up as badly as we can for the incoming Dems.

Just wait until after the election.

A more fringe component might be: Trump is done. Checked out, ready for it to be over. So he's tanking it.

For an educated, intelligent human to truly succumb to a cult of personality, in the name of blocking a perceived delusion of "global authoritarian socialism" ..... I mean, my god. It does really leave an observer dumbfounded, how a human mind can become poisoned like that.

The first rule of negotiations is that you have to be willing to walk away from the table... and then back to the table.
