That's Trump campaign confirmation that Trump is far behind. The incumbent president wants more debates and wants them ASAP. It's sad and pathetic.

In reality, general election debates should be cancelled. They're worthless talking point performances, not debates. Moderators aren't interested in debating an issue. They want juicy ratings. That's ancillary to the entire point of a real debate.

In any event, 3 is more than enough. September 29th is too soon to have them. The later the better. We should be debatinf current topics as close to the election date as possible because events can change or arise. But the 29th of September is calendar. So it's fair to keep them on September 29th. Most of the country will have voted by mail before the 29th anyway, so why even bother?

Regardless, Trump is sh!tting his pants. He knows he's going down like Jimmy Carter. It'll be ugly watching a grown man whine, complain, and moan like a pissant. But we'll get through it.

Or ...perhaps he knows he would kill Biden in the debates. As he would.

Obviously a candidate who's confident doesn't try to change the way we vote, and avoid debating his opponent.

It really is a study in mind control how left has managed to convince their followers to suspend common sense, and not to believe what they hear with their own ears, or what they see with their own eyes.

Trump lost all 3 debates to Hillary. I don't know why anyone thinks Trump can win any debate.

OP is correct about the nature of the debates, though. They haven't provided any value for decades.
The debates are where most undecided voters make their decisions. That's why the D's want to do away with them. They can have their corporate partners in big tech censor social media, and their corporate partners in the MSM lie & distort the truth, but they can't manipulate the truth in a debate, and are forced into a fair fight.

I think it’s great Republicans are playing it this way. Trump, the great orator, and Biden the feeble minded grandpa. Sets expectations at a baseline where Joe just has to not drool on himself, and the President has to be Lincoln.

When you spew your bullsh!t does it flow like Mad Dog Tannen waking up from being knocked out, or is it more projectile like in "The Exorcist?"

If Trump weren't terrified...he wouldn't have been floating the idea of postponing the election.

Biden already agreed to three debates. There haven't been more or less than 3 in decades. You're just desperately making %^* up at this point.

Normally all Trump has to do is not say anything racist or drool on himself for Chuck Todd and co. to declare he "has a new tone."

The Biden camp doesn't want anything to do with debating Trump and only a fool thinks otherwise. Joe isn't mentally all there. He may flash in and out and have his moments, but overall for him to be sharp for a few hours just isn't going to happen. It would reveal his issues to the country and the media and his campaign would not be able to cover for him.

I disagree with this, though "value" is relative. Hillary may have won the debates based on policy and decorum. But Trump was able to be his belligerent self in a very public setting, and his supporters loved it. I think the debates galvanized his voters moreso than any other candidate.

This is correct. Shouting WRONG! won't win you the mock trial competition, but people loved it. It's like trying to show Frontline to a WWE Raw audience.

Biden camp HAS AGREED to the three debates proposed.

Trump camp HAS NOT AGREED to the three debates proposed.

Quit saying Biden is the one who is afraid. LoL.

It's all they have. They have to cling to it like driftwood in the ocean. Meanwhile, Trump's worsening dementia is on display every day and they ignore it.

Its really hard to tell if Trump has dementia. He's NEVER been able to put together a full sentence.
