The whistleblower complaint that has triggered a tense showdown between the U.S. intelligence community and Congress involves President Trump’s communications with a foreign leader, according to two former U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

Trump’s interaction with the foreign leader included a “promise” that was regarded as so troubling that it prompted an official in the U.S. intelligence community to file a formal whistleblower complaint with the inspector general for the intelligence community, said the former officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson determined that the complaint was credible and troubling enough to be considered a matter of “urgent concern,” a legal threshold that ordinarily requires notification of congressional oversight committees.

But acting director of national intelligence Joseph Maguire has refused to share details about Trump’s alleged transgression with lawmakers, touching off a legal and political dispute that has spilled into public and prompted speculation that the spy chief is improperly protecting the president.

The story could be, "Mike Pence goes on record with Fox News and says he possesses video of Trump strangling Baron until he passes out," and that would be your response.

This is it! The big one! It was Trump thanking Putin for helping him win with those troll farms! Who knew that $3000 in Facebook spending would put Trump over the top?

The sad part is that you would believe the story.

The line Trump can cross that would test their loyalty doesn't exist. Well, maybe if Trump converted to Islam.

Unfortunately, the left has repeatedly “drawn” fake lines that he has crossed. They have wasted all their time trying to pin Trump with something significant, but nothing proven has risen to a level above a whiny complaint.

It’s all just background noise now. The left is like a constant whiny, complaining spouse that will never be satisfied.

The more they complain, the less people listen to them.

And the more likely people will tell them to STFU in 2020.

So the fact that a whistle blower in the IC felt compelled to come forward with this, and the IG agreed it was urgent gives you no cause for concern at all?

Nobody would believe that story because it would require Trump to spend time with his child.
Yeah- everybody knows that he doesn't like his kids. ;) ;) Really strong post by you!

Ya, but this time it's the Washington Post, CNN and Schiff that's making the claim. I mean, have those three ever been wrong before? All that's missing to ensure that it's true is for the NY Times to write about it.

Acting DNI - McGuire states that it is non-urgent. But you are correct. I have no concern at all. There have been many attempts to damage Trump by Obama holdovers and they have all been fake or not substantial issues. This is most likely just another day and another attempt to resist.

The IG for the intelligence committee has also acknowledged it. This is not a case where screaming "fake news" makes it go away.

After the number of fake news reports, an anonymous tip is not going to be enough. If it's true and it's a problem, maybe something will come of it down the road. Expecting us to react immediately to another "WOLF!!" is lunacy. But you just so hope it's true,.

This is a good attitude to take. It's pretty much been the blanket excuse for everything Trump does since he's taken office.

It's going to be a really hard smack in the face for you righties when the next democrat takes office and this is the shoulder shrug excuse that you receive for everything.

Also, it doesn't matter what McGuire thinks. The law is clear:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/105th-congress/house-bill/3829/text
Don't soil your pants. It will come out, whatever it is and you will find out that it wasn't a big deal. McGuire consulted the DOJ and they apparently have concerns about executive privilege not to mention the fact that congress is so corrupt that any information given to them confidentially will most certainly go to the press as part of their political war. You are a fraud. You had no problem with Obama telling Medeved how easy he would be after the election. You had not problem with Obama hiding secret codisils of the Iran deal from Congress. You had no problem with 1.8 billion in cash given secretly to Iran by Obama. You had no problem with Obama using the agencies to do so much illegal spying that 85% of their activity was deemed illegal. You have no problem with the Obama conspiracy to free Hillary and oust Trump. But you are absolutely going to crap your pants about the rules now and the possibility that Trump may have made a promise to a foreign leader on the phone. What a joke you are.

Well that smack will take another 5-1/2 years. I hope you have a full time job by then.

It's not an excuse. The MSM has been wrong WAAAAY too many times to take on face. Especially when the story is anonymous. They have been proven false (or were unverifiable) almost every time

All I heard for 8 years was "Thanks Obama". That was a hard smack in the face.

Again, Trump is Rollo Tomasi. He's the guy who gets away with it.

Nothing is going to stick on Trump. Nothing. Whether it's luck, or skill, or dirty tricks going on off-screen, I don't know. But nothing is going to stick on Trump.

I've just come to accept that. the more the left tries to come up with something, the sillier they look.

At least this will give Rachel Maddow material for more of her thrilling 25-minute monologues where it takes her 20 minutes to get to the point.

The left needs to come up with a positive, affirmative reason for people to support another candidate or another party. Until the left can articulate that program - AND sell it to the public - nothing is going to change.

Oh the shame of it! He posed for a picture with his daughter on his lap? Impeach 45!!!
“I’ve said that if Ivanka weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

Normal quote. Normal picture pose. Normal guy.

A human being has the capability to deny anything, no matter what.

You can deny the sun is going to come up tomorrow.

This is just an observation. I'm not sure if denial is a power of human intellect, or a curse of it.

The fact that the left tries so hard to come up with something, and the fact that nothing sticks, leads me to a different conclusion.

The Russia stuff is all nonsense, but even an actual crime would do nothing to make his base falter. Look at how these guys here spin everything he does into a positive.

Given the MSM track record on Trump stories, you'd be an idiot accept this story at face value. Saying "let's wait until we know the details", is not ignoring it.

As for your threat about the collective shrug, you've got it all backward. What Trump supporters are doing right now IS the collective shrug to all the hypocrite Obama/Hillary supporters who spent the past 11 years denying & covering for literally every single thing those two did. This is a taste of your own medicine.

Congress has no authority or oversight, into foreign-policy decisions. How is this any of their business?
