Like many Americans at the beginning of the pandemic, Sacerdote was stuck at home watching the news more than usual. He found it “depressing,” he says, and discovered the more his eyes were glued to the news, the more he realized the media was covering COVID-19 in “the worst possible way.”

This prompted him and a team of researchers to analyze tens of thousands of articles about COVID-19 by using a social science technique to determine whether reporting was negative, positive or neutral.

They found news coverage of the pandemic in the U.S. was “shockingly negative” and bleaker than in international news outlets or scientific journals, Sacerdote says.

The study revealed nearly 90% of articles from major U.S. news organizations were negative compared to just 50% to 60% from major international media sources, he says.

Wow. That was the best 7 minutes I'll spend this month, and I'm no fan of Maher to say the least. Well, well done. Should be required watching for everyone.

Why wouldn't you like Bill Maher?
He is the best, guess its just because his polictical party isn't right, sad...

Well, we’re waiting.

A new Update records tomorrow. Just saying.

From the Feb 19 Osterholm Update pod:

And I'm telling you right now, everything in my public health background, my training and forty five years in the trenches tells me that this is going to be a big peak. So why is that important? Because we've got to start planning now for the impact on health care resources. You have to understand why it's important to get vaccinated. It's really critical that communities are ready for this, so that, we are going to get whipsawed. As I've said before, and I believe it so much, we are so good at this country of pumping the brakes after we've wrapped the car around the tree. I understand we want to open up all of our social venues, our restaurants, our bars, etc. I get that. But just know that I believe that in the weeks ahead, we're going to be doing a quick knee jerk. And at that point we will have helped this virus along as much as we possibly could in its earliest days of transmission. Everything governors and mayors are doing right now is going to help this virus basically take off. So my conclusion right now is not to prepare for a possible Category five hurricane would be irresponsible, especially on the radar, I believe provides a clear and compelling evidence it's coming. And I'll stick by this and I hope I'm wrong. I so hope I am wrong. I will be on this podcast in six to eight weeks from now if we haven't seen this surge, and I will apologize to you, I will try to explain why I think I was wrong and share with you. But if I'm not, please, we have to start getting ready and we're going to talk more about that in a minute when we talk about vaccination.

No surprise that various states and countries are cheating their covid numbers. Like as been said all along, the easiest story to tell will be excess deaths. That can't be cheated.

Looks like, hopefully, in Minnesota the vaccines are starting to curb the latest surge:

If the data agrees with me, legitimate. If the data disagrees, conspiracy!

Which states are cheating, in your mind?🤔

“In the trenches”. MO loves his 15-minutes.

He started out the pandemic as relatively levelheaded - soft lockdowns won’t be effective in checking spread, cloth face covering science dubious at best, epidemiology models mostly garbage in garbage out - but either appears to have been swallowed by peer pressure and groupthink or the perceived responsibility for pandemic deaths has led him to safety ism. He doesn’t sound well in recent months versus the early podcasts.

She is the gift that keeps on giving. Not fully vaccinated yet chose to travel from Michigan to Florida against her own advice to visit her father who has compromised lung functions. Seems like an odd thing to do when there is a pandemic going around that ATTACKS THE LUNGS.
