Whoa! Hospitalization numbers with a Big jump. And that was confirmed by the media. also three consecutive days with positive test rate over 10%. To quote Tommy Lee Jones, if it ain't a mess, it'll do til the mess gets here.

MN Covid-19 Update - Thurs, Oct 29

data reported by 4pm the previous day.

Positive Cases 141,789 +2,849. (positive test rate 10.5%)

Health-Care workers with positive cases 14,095 +157.

Cases no longer needing isolation 124,379 +850.

Active Cases 15,006 +1,964.

Deaths 2,404 +31.

Deaths at long-term care and assisted living 1,679 +19.

Patients currently Hospitalized 867+187. cumulative 9,991 +136.

Patients currently In ICU 173 +9. cumulative 2,642 +33.

Total tests 2,742,869 +27,144.

Number of people tested 1,819,873 +18,869.
Have they mentioned what they think is driving these surges in the upper Midwest? Churches, restaurants, family gatherings? All of the above?

We've gotten too complacent/tired of lockdown life, probably. Be kind to the hospital workers. While it isn’t imminent if things get too far out of control rationing of care, care from the unqualified or under qualified or tired (NYC) will be a disaster....

I abide by all the mask mandates, but with everyday that goes by, there is more and more evidence that masks don’t work all that well.

Good article comparing locations with mask mandates versus no mask mandates.

Imposing travel bans from China at the end of January is sticking your head in the sand?

Pelosi and Cuomo both wildly dismissing the dangers of the virus and encouraging people to go about their business in mid-February sounds a LOT more like sticking your head in the sand than what the WH did, you think?
Dismissing the virus as a 'Chinese' virus when the virus was already within our borders and not demonstrating leadership and following a pandemic plan because the virus won't be able to survive into spring WAS sticking their head in the sand or somewhere else. The call was coming from inside the house and this administration was too busy looking out the front window for the boogie man.

What the hell are you talking about? NO ONE was overly worried about CV in February. No Democrats. NONE.

Trump closed China travel except those returning home and then closed Europe when their outbreak started up. Both times, over the objections of the left, but more so on China.

Stopping people from China traveling here saved tens of thousands of lives and an earlier surge.

Around mid-March, everyone started to get concerned, and Trump locked the country down to flatten the curve, as we were told.

Every region and every state has experienced a surge, some two surges. Some Democrat states/cities were hit the hardest, partly b/c they DID NOT follow the protocol laid out by the Federal government about senior returning to LTCF from hospitals after experiencing CV.

You guys can re-write history better than anyone. The 1619 project has competition from the Covid19 project.

Wait... what? Trump locked the country down? I must have missed that fireside chat from the Oval Office where this administration stepped up and brought us all together in an effort to beat this common enemy. Have you been reading the newspaper backward AND upside down? Did you listen to the Kushner interview with Woodward? As is the norm, this administration seeks to get all of the glory with none of the risk. THEY made COVID a political game and THAT is why we are here today in shambles.

Democrats have politicized Covid more than anyone b/c it’s all they have.

Biden doesn’t give a shit about people dying. He wants the numbers up to improve his election chances.

It's worth mocking them, but not worth arguing with them.

They have left us with chaos and a world war's worth of death in just a few months.

In every speech Biden shouts, "Covid! Covid! Covid!" and his thousands of sardines laugh along with him in loving adoration, thoroughly entertained.

Are you and your son heading to the WH next week w/ your boom booms?

Work with a few people in Germany. Different parts of the country are entering full lock-down again as another wave of Covid is sweeping through. I'm sure that will be hitting us soon. Uggghhhh.

Actually you did miss that fireside chat:
Hardly a fireside chat aired during prime time compassionately and calmly talking to the American people and hardly cohesive national direction that was needed to prevent the chaos that followed... did you see #1?

1. Listen to and follow the directions of your state and local authorities.

Nothing to see folks... move along... let each of the states figure this out independent of one another. The world's superpower can't put together a plan for you. If one plan is good, 50 plans is great!

The inconsistency in this approach is what led to the rampant spread of the virus across every corner of the country. The shutdown that you all bitch and moan about can be traced to this false idol that you so worship who refused to step up in a time of need much like he has dodged every other responsibility in his life. It is truly sad that you are so blind that you can't even fathom that your dear leader could fail... even once.

I may not have always agreed with G.W. Bush but he at least tried to bring this country together. The current occupant has made a career out of being divisive and polarizing and has brought the same schtick to our great nation.

Haha, ecodouche boxed by Beeg. Another terrible Loony Leftist addition to GH
Are you a tween? You are clearly the most childish poster in this board's history. There have been countless factory rejects on here over the years but your sophomoric responses suggest the stunning intellect of a 12 year old. I've been following the Gopher Hole daily since the mid 90s but don't feel the need to spend hours each day getting into pissing contests with children like you.

Ironic that he calls other people morons when he is referencing the provisional death numbers.

The deaths in New York and New Jersey were the largest contributors to the death numbers early on, and the DEM Governors called those shots. They chose to not use the USN Hospital Ship, and the the 100M plus field hospital to treat the COVID cases, but instead put them into the nursing homes and kiilled thousands.

This is all on Cuomo and the East Coast DEM leaders.

Yeah, that as bad as...

Joe Biden stated on September 17, 2020 in a CNN town hall:
"If the president had done his job, had done his job from the beginning, all the people would still be alive. All the people. I'm not making this up. Just look at the data."

You may not remember the total outrage that lefties had when DT said he had “total authority” when it came to COVID. There is a whole thread on here, if interested, about how unconstitutional and wrong that was. D Governors got into it as well. Now all the same talk about how it is all the Federal Governments fault. I have even been told there was “nothing Walz could have done” in Minnesota. You clearly sit on the “all Trump’s fault” side of the room - and I’m guessing from your post your chair is bolted there for everything. Silly.

The federal government could have done more about COVID, without a doubt, but the State Governments share in that blame. A lot. We can debate how much, but your summary above is simply an ignorant, biased, misrepresentation of reality.

State/local governments are responsible for emergency planning and preparation. Period. This is the true failure, and so many will not simply acknowledge their leaders failed so badly in this regard.

Feds support.

Cool story. But even my 3 year old knows the “well so and so did it too” argument doesn’t work.

That doesn’t change the fact that we have someone here that speaks for the current president and potentially influences the actions of people lying.

Feds have the early warning mechanisms, that was the big failure. States don't have spies to monitor the situation in China.
