Not sure what his current odds are, but Bateman will be one to watch as a potential add to this list. He doesn't play in the return game which will hurt his chances but as the #1 guy it is entirely possible he may have a monster season. Yes teams will focus in on him but when you have an elite WR that doesn't always matter.

With another off season to get even stronger and better, it won't shock me if Bateman finds his way into the Heisman talk as well next year. I don't think it is a pipe dream to think we could have two legit candidates on this offense next season in Morgan and Bateman.

I'm hoping that with Iowa week three we will unleash the offense quickly next season. Really try to send a message early in the season to everyone else that last year was for real and we are gunning for more.

13-0, big ten champs, first team to win from the west...I could see that propelling him to a Heisman, doubt he's in the convo if we aren't in competition for the west at the end of the season. Who knows, maybe the offense takes another step and he puts up some absolutely huge numbers

I hope the learning curve with a new OC is short and smooth, but I anticipate there will be some growing pains that may prevent Tanner from being the same marksman he was under Ciarrocca.

If Morgan plays well enough next year to find his way up onto that stage in New York - I will be absolutely beside myself. That would be an amazing underdog story. Even making it to the stage would mean the Gophers will have had another special season, too.

When is the last time a Gopher had any meaningful heisman buzz? Chris Darkins?

Big 10 players are longshots in any event. Notwithstanding last nights results, Trevor Lawrence will be the odds on favorite. Would love it if the Gopher's season is strong enough that Morgan is in the conversation.

Even if he doesn't win it, having players in the conversation is huge for the program.

If he pulls a Jedd Fisch and tries to change Morgan's throwing mechanics I will be really ticked off :)

I don't think Fleck will let Sanford tinker a bunch. I am sure there will be some changes but I think they will be minimal. That said, with Sanford and Simon in charge the possibility exists we will get even more aggressive in the passing game.

We ran 883 plays last year - 560 runs, 323 passes, which breaks down to approx 63% run and 37% pass. If those percentages would drift closer to 50/50, Morgan's numbers could see a big bump.

Really exciting to head into next season with potentially one of the top QBs in the entire country

What a 50/50 split looks like assuming all rates stay the same....

291/441
4,511 yards
42 touchdowns
10 INTs

Yards and Touchdowns would have been both 3rd most in 2019.

New OC didn't hurt Burrow

Clifford's odds will go down because he won't throw to a tight end. Then he'll start swearing at boats again and come out of the injury tent like his ass is on fire, and then everyone will laugh at him again.

Bateman is incredible but it's been ovet 30 years since a WR (unless you call Desmond a WR) won the Heisman. A lot of amazing WRs have come and gone since then without winning it.

Can I put $50,000 on it?

(No, I can't).

Would be awesome though! Last Heisman winner not in the national championship conversation was Lamar Jackson a few years ago, but I don't think it happens too often.

Maroney was in the mix a little but not sure how close he came to being an actual finalist. I know Chris Darkins was thought of as a potential Heisman back near the end of his Gopher career but campaign never picked up much steam.

The reality is we have had very few legit Heisman candidates since Bruce Smith won it.

Tom Brown finished 2nd in 1960. Other than that, it's been a very rare occurrence.

Ha ha. I’d love to read about the background story on that. A case of Fisch thinking he’s the smartest guy in the room and developing a revolutionary training algorithm or was Weber nursing a shoulder at the time?

Ahhh Jedd Fisch....guy was amazing. He literally studied everyone and tried to build and offense that could do everything. He also came in the door and immediately tried to change the way Weber threw the ball.

Similar to Everett Withers he tried to run an NFL system in college and it just didn't work. Looking up Fisch's bio, he has been all over the place since leaving the Gophers and is currently a clock management specialist for the Rams apparently.

Guy was very bright but he definitely seems like someone more suited to the pro game then college.

Whoa. Very slim chance he gets the aggregate numbers to win it, but cool to see the recognition and that Gopher buzz will carry over to 2020.

For those actually considering betting this id recommend a different site.

Fanduel 80/1
Bovada 80/1

Also for reference gophers are 80/1 to win the championship
