per RandBall:

And on Monday, Winnipeg announced it is releasing Streveler — not for poor performance, but so he can take a shot at carving out an NFL career.

The Bombers said in a tweet: “A legend was born in Winnipeg. We wish @cstrevy all the best in his future endeavours,” adding a 45-second video clip of pure happiness.

Streveler tweeted: “So thankful for these past 2 years. Winnipeg will always be a special place to me. I love all my teammates and appreciate all your support. We’ll still always be Grey Cup champs!

We’ll see how far he makes it. As CBC notes: Not long after his cigar-and-beer celebrations, it was reported that Streveler had garnered interest from the NFL and had scheduled workouts with the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins.

Looks like he's having fun.
Was a little bummed when he left Minnesota but it appears all things worked out for him for the best.

I wonder if that is the role teams are looking at him for. NFL is very much a copycat league, so teams could be out there hunting for their version of Hill. Streveler would seem like someone who might fit that mold.

Hope it works out for him.

Elite runner/athlete, no question.

CFL fans will have to comment on whether he has enough throwing ability to succeed beyond the FCS.

Didn't exactly light it up through the air in the CFL but was clearly a pretty solid weapon as a runner from the QB position who could throw some. Will be interesting if the teams that are looking at him are planning to give him a shot at QB or if they are looking at him for some other role. Perhaps a Taysom Hill type or maybe another position all together.

Streveler was awesome last year, his athleticism is off the charts. Huge, fast and physical. I suspect he will carve out a role in the NFL similar to Hill in New Orleans. As for arm strength, it was weak and the decision making was suspect. He could have had a long career in the CFL as a back-up/ nybrid QB but seemed unlikely to have success as a full blown #1.

One thing the guy has is charisma. I have never seen an athlete so comfortable with attention:

This thread is neat just because of all the pictures he has with fans:

And here is a fan tattoo of Streveler with the cup presented without commentary:

He will be missed in Winnipeg and I am pretty sure he will miss Winnipeg.

He's got all the tools for WWE Wrestling is what I am thinking. He's got all the theatrics down. That's for sure.

Great stuff. And on the plus side, if the NFL thing doesn't work out for him I am sure he would be welcomed back in Winnipeg with open arms.

Streveler "The Leveler" at the end of the video. Good luck to him.

Good luck to him. The CFL continues to be a very minor league. One or two guys make it to active NFL rosters. The rules of the CFL hide deficiencies in CFL players. That’s why they’re in the CFL.

I'll always remember that SJSU game. 1/7 for 7 yards with an INT... in a 24-7 win. Was like snapping the ball to a fullback.

I would be shocked if any of the teams looking at him are viewing him as a future starting QB. But as a hybrid guy/great athlete that can throw a little I can see some definite potential for him.

The old saying is that the NFL is a copycat league, and when you look at the success the New Orleans Saints had with do-it-all quarterback Taysom Hillover the past few seasons, it was only a matter of time before another club in the league tried to do the same. Well, that time has seemingly come. The Arizona Cardinals announced on Tuesday that they've signed quarterback Chris Streveler to a futures deal.

He'd be perfect for the CFL.

Kyler Murray is an above average running quarterback so interesting to sign Streveler as a wildcat type weapon. Maybe they want Murray in one piece the whole year and take some hits off him, or maybe Chris will get a chance to develop as a QB, or maybe he’ll transition to more of a receiver or returner role.

OMG...he has shrunk TWO inches since college!

Seriously though, I ended up walking behind him and his family after a game at TCF and he was my height. 6'1". I do think it is interesting (or amusing) that college listed heights seem to be all over the place. Annexstad and Clark are every bit of what they are listed as, Morgan and Kramer are not.

I think I saw a tweet saying the Cardinals signed him. Figured it would already be on here so I didn't copy the link.

The CFL field is huge compared to an NFL field. Perfect for runners.

True, but only Gray has been able to stick around from that group and actually see the field in a variety of different roles outside of QB.

Streveler looking to make it on the AZ Cardinals roster, willing to do whatever it takes to stick. He still regards himself as a QB though, but he is willing to stick on Special Teams or whatever niche there is.

Some of the Cardinals beat writers have taken to calling him "The Leveler". Streveler the Leveler. Has a nice ring to it!!

Maxx Williams also on the roster, but has missed time this camp so far, brief mention of him here. Williams signed a 2-year deal with the Cardinals this offseason I believe.
