I can't necessarily disagree with anything you stated in your post here or in the post that you quoted from Spoofin but it's sad that we are now in the business of ranking/justifying our riots and mob behavior in this country. I suppose if you really believe the election was stolen and the President lights the match, you end up with a scene like yesterday. I suppose if you watch the George Floyd incident and you really believe the entire establishment is systemically racist and that event was happening with regularity, you end up with a situation like MPLS. Yeah, I’ve drafted about nine posts about this, and none seem right. Certainly, it can’t just be about the rule of law, because sometimes the law is wrong. Tom Sawyer told Huck Finn that he was going to Hell because he stole Jim, and Jim was property. Certainly, that’s a case where few would recognize the law as correct.
I'm going to ignore the first thought here, as I'm not sure that's an accurate depiction. The rest of this post, I generally agree with. I would add that they were practically escorted in, which, of course is a massive failure. There's no way to be sure what would have happened, had they had competent security. It's not too difficult to imagine a few different possibilities. My thought? It would have become minorly violent, there would have been dozens of arrests, a few people injured and maybe a few people killed (maybe not). Nobody can be sure.
