Hoaxes and nonsense’: GOP election officials in Georgia reject Trump’s unfounded fraud claims

Monday morning, Gabriel Sterling, a lifelong Republican who manages Georgia’s voting system, took to a lectern at the Capitol to plainly and matter-of-factly dismiss criticism of election illegalities in the Southern battleground state as “fake news” and “disinformation.” “Hoaxes and nonsense,” Sterling said. “Don’t buy into these things. Find trusted sources.”

With Biden leading Trump in Georgia by more than 12,000 votes — 0.25% of the total — Republicans in the state are nevertheless locked in a civil war as the presidential race heads for a recount. The upheaval shows how Trump’s persistent and unfounded claims of fraud and refusal to concede the election to Biden are dividing not just the country but his own party.

“The facts are the facts, regardless of outcomes,” Sterling said. “Our job is to get it right for the voters and the people of Georgia and for the people of the United States to make sure the outcomes of these elections are correct and trustworthy,” he added. “At the end of the day — no matter which side of the aisle you’re on, no matter which candidate you supported — you can have trust and believe the outcome of these things.”

Collins has been mostly reasonable?

She was just such a B word about how she did the Kavanough announcement. I think that's mostly why Dems wanted to can her.

GOP has now flipped both the House & Senate in New Hampshire and the state House in Alaska, and gained state seats throughout the country. From what I'm seeing, it's an across the country loss for the DEMs and a gain for the GOP. This is a big deal heading into the 2022 redrawing of districts.

Sorry, but this ticket would get crushed. Note that a LOT of the Trump support in 2020 was due to the selection of Harris as VP, and the fear that stokes in rural white folks.
Every person who voted against Harris also voted against Obama.

As always, it also depends who you're running against and what the circumstances of the country are at that time.

Elections are a bipartisan effort at every step of the way. I'm sure that many repubs are praying for Trump to simply go away....but what about the ones involved in the election process that are now being denigrated for allowing MASSIVE (fake) fraud to infiltrate the election?

Was it KFC in one of the other threads that said that Trump will MAGA in 2024? :ROFLMAO:

Once he's gone....he's gone. No chance that the larger party backs this idiot again.

I didn’t predict that he will run. I said it’s his choice depending on his health at the time.

He is the leader of the Republican Party. All former presidents are the de facto leader of the party after they leave office unless someone else from the party assumes the presidency. He will be campaigning for the Georgia senate race. It’s likely he will be campaigning for 2022 Senate and congressional seats. After that, it‘s up to him if he wants to run.

I wouldn’t want to be the Republican that challenges him in a primary. It would be a campaign death sentence.

You are out of your mind if you think that the party will align behind him in 2024. A good portion of the party was terrified into supporting him as president. They're free now that he's lost. Don't trick yourself into thinking that he's going to be widely supported in four years.

Trump losing, and retaining the Senate, was the best case scenario for the right.

Senator James Lankford, an Oklahoma Republican who sits on a key Senate oversight committee, said on a podcast released on Wednesday that he had no objections to President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. receiving presidential daily briefings, and that he would take action himself if that did not begin by the end of the week.

“If that’s not occurring by Friday, I will step in,” Mr. Lankford said in an interview on KRMG radio in Tulsa, “to be able to push them and say, ‘This needs to occur,’ so that regardless of the outcome of the election, whichever way that it goes, people can be ready for that actual task.”

Trump To Quickly Announce 2024 Campaign If Biden Victory Is Certified: Report

President Donald Trump has reportedly told some of his advisers that if Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden is certified as the winner of the 2020 election, he will announce a 2024 campaign shortly afterward where he will likely face either Biden or Kamala Harris...

...If he runs in 2024, he’ll certainly be the front-runner and will probably be the nominee,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) told reporters yesterday. “...
