JHFC. Another step or three into full fledged banana republicanism.

We're officially a third world dictatorship.
we've never had national vote by mail in our history, so any actions which stop us from switching TO national vote by mail represents a banana republic dictatorial regime.

Except there's no particular effort to force all voting to be by mail, and only a couple of states are even trying to make it possible. Four states have voted predominantly by mail for several elections. Tens of millions of ballots have been mailed in over the past 2 elections and Trump is trying to hamper that.

This is exact proof that the "absentee voting is OK because it isn't voting by mail" argument is so bad faith. This is a blunt force attempt to even hamper the "absentee" voting that has been growing organically for years.

Some people oppose it (or sabotage it) just because of the perception that it'll help leftist candidates, but I think some of what we're dealing with is simple horse-and-buggy thinking--stuck in the rut of past practice and sensibility. When you take a step back, there's really no reason that there can't be better ways to conduct elections than to show up and stand in line at a polling place. This time, it's simply the pandemic that's forcing our hand at innovating the process.

it represents a radical change. Making such a change a few months before a very contentious election is a really terrible idea. The worst possible thing we can do is to sow doubt about the results of the election. Do you think national mail in voting makes that more likely or less?

Again, states control elections. Only a couple of states are suggesting radical change.

Trump will sow doubt when he loses regardless. That horse has left the barn. We've been screaming for years about voter fraud in our normal elections. O'Keefe has made videos, we've been purging rolls, requiring ID.

agreed, but we're having a discussion about it from a national lens, so it's fine for folks to weigh in.

the left hasn't been sowing doubt for 3 years.... it would be unfair for Trump or O'Keefe to do what they've done.

The pattern is the same. Not long ago the fascists here were denying there was any connection between the USPS troubles and the upcoming election. Now it's out in the open, and they'll be defending it.
Ever the same.

"He's not doing that! Fake News!"
"Maybe he's doing something, but not the way you say. You're twisting the facts! Fake News!"
"You're GD right he's doing it! And thank God he is! MAGA!"

I was just told this is just a couple states, and has nothing to do with universal mail in voting.

But it's not OK to hamstring the USPS around the country to stop some radical change that isn't happening

Right, Trump is pretending he's slowing universal mail-in voting, when in fact he's slowing all voting along with every other function being served by the USPS.

Defending this is really something.

They can't even keep their argument straight. 90% of this discussion is simply an increase in the exact same absentee voting that has occurred for decades. And Trump is trying to stop it. His only hope is voter suppression and they will twist themselves into any pretzel needed to defend it. It's pathetic.

One of the board's shameless fellas making another nazi comparison. The nazi's murdered approximately 19,000,000 people and tortured, imprisoned and enslaved millions more. You make casual comparisons of people with whom you disagree to a group of people who murdered, enslaved, tortured and imprisoned tens and tens of millions of people. You guys have an infectious disease far worse than COVID.
So it's fine for the Liberals to call Conservatives White Supremacists/Nazis because they don't agree with their view but it's not okay to call the Liberals Nazis? Okay then... Sadly, the term 'Nazi' has become trite in recent months due to the overuse from the far left.

Is it OK for us to call Marjorie Greene a white supremacist?

refresh my memory on how mail in voting works and tell me if I have this right. Ballots are sent on November 1st by mail, and respondents only have 2 days to mail them back in otherwise they are invalidated. Is that right? In that case, I have to agree with you, slowing the mail means invalidating millions of ballots.

Here's the actual deal JTF..you have a loser candidate and you know that the only way he wins is to have massive voter fraud via vote by mail. You actually know that, but you don't care because you are fundamentally dishonest...which is proven here daily.

The Republican president said on Fox Business Network that among the big sticking points for a new congressional virus relief package were the Democrats’ demands for billions of dollars to assist states in protecting the election and to help postal workers process mail-in ballots.

“They need that money in order to have the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots,” Trump said on “Mornings with Maria," adding, “If they don’t get those two items, that means you can’t have universal mail-in voting because they’re not equipped to have it.”

Poll from Marquette University law School on likely voters in Wisconsin.

People planning to vote by mail favor Biden 81-14%.

Whether one wants it or not, providing for remote voting is definitely a legitimate pandemic relief measure.

Here's the actual deal, beeg. Your candidate knows he's losing, and the Senate might even be in play. He knows the only way he wins is if he keeps a large percentage of Americans from voting.

That doing so is perhaps the single most un-American thing a president could do means nothing to him.
