Not sure if anyone is following this but the Canadian media is going nuts on toxic hockey culture.

It started with announcer and hockey icon Don Cherry getting fired for accusing immigrants of not being patriotic. This led to backlash, both for and against Cherry and led to a number of immigrants/ people of color detailing racism in Canadian hockey. Then when Mike Babcock got fired as Leafs coach, some of his "toxic" behaviour came out. This led to former NHLer Akim Aliou detailing pretty severe allegations against Calgary coach Bill Peters (verified by 2 team-mates and admitted to by Peters in one of the least sincere apologies ever written). The Aliou allegations led to a former Carolina player outlining physical abuse by Peters (confirmed by Carolina management).

It appears more allegations against other prominent coaches will be coming out in the days to come.

Here is a pretty good article:

George Laraque talking about hockey in Quebec in the 1990s that sounds more like Jackie Robinson's era.
