Seems like a weird amount of Sunday games, I don't seem to remember the big ten playing that many Sunday games in past years. Luckily most won't clash with NFL season.

Too many Sunday games for my taste.
Mine, too. Brutal. You can bet if it isn't a marquee opponent, it will be a 6:00 evening game as well. Really brutal. I'm already out of at least four B1G games, and likely more when the Sunday times are announced. Yuk.

Really strange schedule. 6 of the 10 home games are on a Sunday. Not a single Saturday home game in the B1G.

Saturdays are for college sports.

Yeah this sucks. If I was Pitino, I would file a complaint with the Big Ten. It won't change the schedule this year, but it would be a stark reminder to the Big Ten not to do that again. Not having a single Big Ten home game on Saturday is ridiculous. Saturdays just seem perfect for college sports.

Gotta love the consistency of the home schedule, very easy to plan the rest of your life around, bummer if one of those two days are a standing conflict though.

I'm curious what this page thinks the perfect home schedule is supposed to look like. Seems to always be a lot of complaints this time of the year, not sure if that is just the minority coming out of the woodwork or if this is actually a real issue that is impacting attendance....

Seem's like this state has a really easy time coming up with excuses on why our sports teams aren't convenient enough for them.

Any true Gopher fan would pick the Gophers over the ViQueens everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.

But I shouldn’t have to. Really tired of every sport/league thinking they should schedule every day of the week.

I'm curious what this page thinks the perfect home schedule is supposed to look like.
I may have said this before, but if I was commissioner every bye would be a weekday slot. Normal week:

2 Tuesday
2 or 3 Wednesday
1 or 2 Thursday
0 or 1 Friday
4 (11am, 1:30, 4, 7 in a block on BTN)
3 Sunday (one prime noon game on CBS, 2:30 & 5pm on BTN)

No reason to ever have a Monday game as every team will be playing Sat or Sun.

There are 28 byes or 14 games missed over the course of 11 weeks of conference play. So there would be 3 weeks where there would be only 5 games midweek. Friday games are very rare and only if the home team would rather play Friday than on the weekend for some reason. With Hockey on Fridays, no need for BTN programming. Women's hoops get priority on the network on Mondays or Thursdays.

Seems too easy to put together to me.

Speaking of BTN, Are Gopher games going to be on Hulu again this season? I'm out in Ca. with-out TV. I only watch stuff on-line, so there was no BTN available because I don't use cable TV. Used Hulu last season to watch Gophers hoops, but man it's expensive. Is YouTube a better value?

Pitino is likely thrilled with this schedule. Why would he want more weeknight games when no one shows up (especially when most are 8 o'clock)? Sunday games gives way more opportunity for fans to get to games. Vikings are likely over or close to over by the time the meat of the Big Ten onslaught of Sunday games arrives. Has there ever been fewer weeknight conference home games? That's a good thing. Play those on the road.

There are 35 B1G Saturday games. The Gophers appear in one on the road. The average team appears in 5.

No games with 1 day of rest is a huge plus

Gophers have zero games on -1-day rest cycle. Pitino certainly is going to like that.

Not a fan of zero Saturday home games, but not a huge deal to me. Now if most of those Sunday games end up with starts of 3 pm or later, that’s not ideal. I like having my Sunday evenings free, but this stuff happens when TV rules everything.

No Saturday games is brutal. The gap between games may be better for players getting rest, but in the last few years, the only time the arena has really been jumping has been on Saturday, usually afternoons. I've noticed that no matter who the opponent is on a Saturday afternoon, the likelihood of a sellout or close to one, is much greater. The bigger crowds make for a better environment. I don't think those get replicated on Sunday, especially if they are late afternoon/evening. For me it's 50/50 on getting to games on either Saturday or Sunday, with maybe a slight nod to getting there on Saturday. I would be almost willing to bet the gate receipts will be down with all those Sunday games. Much easier for most people to get away on a Saturday than Sunday.

Well, look at the bright side. Big Ten fans who like to watch weeknight and Sunday night games will see us a lot. Hope we play well.

I don't think Northwestern, Iowa, and Wisconsin will be that good this year so I'm glad we play all three twice. Hard to say if Indiana will be any better than last year but we play them twice. We only get Nebraska and Rutgers once though.

I expect Purdue and Maryland will still be good and Illinois certainly has the potential to be good; we play them only once. Don't know what to think about Michigan yet.

Mich State is the favorite again and Ohio State should be a top four or five contender; we have to play them twice. Also play Penn State twice and I still think they should be a top half team.

Attendance last year by day of week in Big Ten home games:

1) Wednesday (only sellout of year - Wisconsin) -- 14,625
2) Saturday (Indiana) -- 11,639
3) Thursday (Michigan) -- 11,639
4) Sunday (Iowa) -- 11,582
5) Saturday (PSU) -- 11,042
6) Saturday (Rutgers) -- 10,837
7) Tuesday (Purdue) -- 10,062
8) Tuesday (Maryland) -- 9,919
9) Wednesday (Nebraska) -- 9,624
10) Wednesday (Illinois) -- 9,565

We only had four weekend Big Ten home games last year. They were four of the top six attended games.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are no good (even with Purdue, Maryland and Nebraska) easily taking the bottom four spots. Wisconsin saved Wednesday from total embarrassment.

More weekends (even if Sunday) is better than more weeknights. This is why Pitino is likely quite happy with this schedule.

Sunday games against Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, and Nebraska should draw really, really well. Wednesday games against Wisconsin, Indiana, and Maryland should do reasonably well.

Attendance should be good with this schedule.
