While the direction of this thread may be fascinating to some, (hmm) I am more interested in how Roy NKA Emil became interested in Emil Torday. Do tell the story!

As you may know Emil Torday collected an incredible amount of artifacts from the Kuba tribe of the DRC, Congo. For years this collection was the mainstay of the British Museum of Mankind. It is now in the British Museum. Emil's gift was that unlike the missionaries he was able to observe the Kuba without trying to interfere or change them. I have spent much of the last thirty years working with various African tribes. Early on I concluded that Africa has much more to teach me than I have to teach them. I am an afficianado of African art and have spent hours in those British museums enjoying and learning from the collection of Emil Torday.
