Lets keep in mind that LSU (the defending national champions) are 2-2.

They also lost a ton of players and have a crap defense.

Clearly brought out the worst of the worst on the threads last night. Going to be a weird year this year.

If this is an overreaction thread, then I’ll keep it going with fire PJ! People in Penn State were saying it after losing to Indiana and our loss was much worse.

Plus, as people said, these are all PJ’s recruits now, so he owns all of them. Clearly he’s a bad recruiter with all talk and no action. Not to mention, the defensive and special teams coaches have got to go too!

Iowa lost to a (Jeff) Brohm and Rondale Moore-less Purdue team. PSU lost to Indiana. Both much “worse” opponents than MI. I stated this in another thread, but this one hurt much more because we don’t get another crack at the jug for 3 more years (unless we meet them in the 9th game). I’d much rather lose some fluke game like Maryland than MI for that reason alone.

Considering the 9th game setup....I think it's VERY possible that we see Michigan for a second time this year.

Going with the flow...TCF Bank Stadium is now disgraced real estate. Tear it down and put up some more condos and apartments.

2019 we got break but for whatever reason when things don't go well the gophers have this mass of haters show up.

i know op was a joke.

i have been wondering what it is that attracts americans so much to football. there are leagues in other countries, no doubt, but there is really no other country that is so fixated on football than the u.s. and i find that weird.

for me, rugby has become far more interesting than football. but as i have gotten older, i have become far less interested in team sports altogether.

anyway, i know, cool story bro.

Have the Vikings and Gophers play to see which is best of the bad Minnesota football teams. Honestly will be a long season for both teams.

I guess I'm missing the thread or mass posts as described. Wondering your definition of mass of haters and #2G worst of the worst...

I feel we need an under-reaction to this over-reaction.

We gave them a touchdown on the fumble recovery.
We gave them another touchdown after the poorly executed coverage on the kick-off.
We gave them another touchdown after the second quarter fake punt Ko kleft rush attempt.
We failed to score when inside the 6 yard line.

That's at least a 24 point swing, maybe 28 points. In a game we lost 49-24. Which means we really were only a hand full of plays from being in this game! And changing momentum big time. Teams with a talent deficiency need to ride emotion to overcome their disadvantages. Without those God-awful mistakes, would our defense have been so bad? Would our offense have missed as many opportunities? You know they wouldn't have. We aren't good enough to play poorly. We have to play well. We didn't give ourselves a chance.

So, we really don't know anything about our team compared to what we knew before the game. Except, we don't have the Jug. Oh, well.

On to Maryland. Got some stuff to work on before the next kickoff.

Go Gophers!

PS: FULL BANANA

Penn State will lose faith in their OC Captain Kirk C before too long.

I thought the Big 10 was going to do everything possible to avoid repeat match ups, unless it was the 2 Division winners.

Should it happen, I was surprised to learn Minnesota/Michigan have played twice before in the same season, back in 1926. The Wolverines won both games, 20-0 on Oct 16 in Ann Arbor and then 7-6 on Nov 20 in Minneapolis. So there is a precedent.

No, 1 plays 1 (championship game), 2 plays 2, 3 plays 3 etc...

I know that is the general idea, but I thought there is some leeway to avoid repeats if possible (except for the Title). Say for instance Northwestern and Nebraska tie for 4th in the West and Maryland finishes 4th in the East. The Terps would play the Huskers to avoid the repeat.

Things change so often, maybe I am way off base or I mixed it up with other conferences.

No, you're right...they did mention that somewhere. For example, Purdue doesn't play Michigan this year. So let's say MN ends up #2 in the West with Purdue at #3. Michigan ends up #2 in the East with Indiana #3. It's likely the B1G would pair MN - IU and PU - Mich to avoid repeat matchups.

I haven't been able to find any written "rule" for how they will set the match-ups, but I have heard Barry Alvarez (who was on the scheduling committee, I believe) say that they will avoid repeat games. Obviously, 1 v 1 in the Championship Game will happen even if it's a repeat, but after that they will try to give each team a new opponent.

I want to say Barry emphasized try. Hopefully they don't try too hard. I'd hate to see it go full bonkers and like #7 has to play #2 or something dumb like that.

With only two crossover games in the regular schedule, it shouldn't be too hard to avoid repeats, but agree if there's a "perfect storm" where the games line up that way I think they'd prefer a repeat over that.

My money is on Rutgers to win the conference!
