20 players ineligible for the next 2 games it looks like? No way they play next week, right? Could be back against Nebraska with a depleted roster?

I think the timing of that means Nebraska won't happen.
NW is definitely out.

Only open thing now is whether they play during Championship weekend and against who.

Also, national media now concerned because OSU has an outbreak and won't be CFP eligible if they can't play their next two games.

Pressure mounting on Kevin Warren to change his "21 day" lockout. But then how is that fair to WI, MN, and others who did not let players play within 21 days?

In all it's a mess, but it was good to see Bateman play a few games and got a chance to see our defense needs some improvement before next season.

Seems like a good time for the conferences to agree to delay the postseason to allow at least a few make up games after the conclusion of the ”normal” schedules, and after these upper Midwest surges (hopefully) settle down. These time and scheduling pressures seem self-induced which dominoed with the slow play to begin to the season in late Oct. What are the practical roadblocks? I suppose there may be some politicking as well if it means more CFP spots for one particular conference.

All the dithering and chest thumping from the conference led to this. If we started this season in September the hay could already be in the barn. What happened in the sun belt this summer was a clear indication of how much climate (indoor/outdoor) moves the needle. Stupid to wait until October 24 to start.

Zero chance ACC, SEC, and ESPN will agree to delay the selection of the CFP/NY6 by a single week.

That does nothing but help out their enemies, the Big Ten and PAC.

Their goal is to have the CFP be two ACC and two SEC every year.

Could be a few Gophers, including Offensive Lineman, got together without following protocols. That's happened in some of the other Colleges where larger outbreaks have happened. Even the NFL hasn't been immune.

The Denver Broncos, if they play tomorrow, will be without all their Quaterbacks. One tested positive earlier. Then the others all met with him despite being told not to. They lied about it during contact-tracing interviews about exposure, spent extensive time together without masks and didn't consistently wear their tracking devices.

Doubt the Gopher players would lie about it and can't believe they wear any "tracking devices" either.

But gathering without masks or keeping safe distances? That sounds pretty plausible.

Questioning the dithering and the decisions of Warren and company could actually get you banned on this forum. No bueno

Gophers looking like the only game they might get in is on December 19.
Even that game is in jeopardy unless they get the outbreak under control. If not they might be done until spring practice 2021.

When the season went sideways I’d guess some of the guys got tired of the priest-like (hold the jokes) quarantining from hanging out/partying/social life, and that includes the fairer sex. A week or a month or three is a long time at that age...easy to get complacent. Who knows, based on these outbreaks the distancing and masking protocols in the complex could have possibly been better, but that’s water under the bridge..

Turn out the lights, the party is over...

I'm just hoping that they'll get in spring practice and get back to some normalcy in 2021

So Pompous do you have some magic to make not only the Midwest surge settle down but also the rest of the country when millions ignored the pleas of elected officials, public health officials and most importantly the front line health care workers risking their lives who begged people to not celebrate the holiday with anyone not in their living in their house and not to travel?
Magical thinking seems to have spread from the White House to a good portion of this country including you.

https://www.startribune.com/gophers...0-confirmed-cases-half-are-players/573224491/

The athletic department announced Saturday an additional 15 positive cases — eight players and seven staff — during the current pause to team activities. That brings the total cases to 40, 20 of them players and 20 staff members.

A team spokesman confirmed the Gophers still intend to play Northwestern on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium. But sources close to the team doubt the feasibility of that, especially since prior outbreaks at Wisconsin and Maryland required two weeks to contain. And those two programs peaked at 30 cases.

This is pretty obvious evidence that there is little chance the game next week will be played.

No magic, science and math and human psychology playing out. I don’t think anyone is very pleased.

Hmmm, magical thinking.

Wierd post.

They live together...come on man.
Wouldn’t be easy to stay safe as a college kid, yep. Too many weak links and opportunities with team activities, traveling. The odds of avoiding outbreaks completely were pretty low approaching zero.

Then eventually PAC 12 and Big Ten will decide to hold their own Championship in Pasadena. Big 12 will start inviting Notre Dame or other independents to a bowl game somewhere it Dallas.

Works for me, honestly!

Not like we can beat the cheater southern schools anyway.

Maybe when the natty has been Alabama vs Clemson for the 57th time in a row, something will change.

Won't be a normal spring either. Predicting a huge uptick after the entire holiday season. I'm hopeful for a decent fall though if everyone will just get the shots and follow the rules for a while.
