SIAP but I thought this deserved its own thread. How awesome is this guy? He's also fifth in the country in yards per game. Interestingly, all of the top four leading-rushers are from the B1G with Coleman, Gordon, Abdullah and Cobb. Man are we going to miss this guy next year.

I am satisfied to enjoy the great effort of Mr Cobb this year. Wishing him the best including staying healthy. We will have other great runners next year. JJ and another freshmen we have redshirting on top of what we see now. We have several that should be ready to step up.

I look forward to Cobb being drafted in a high round. He has earned it.

He's a beast. Not many college kids can take 27 carries a game.

I would love for Cobb to rush for 200+ against the Illini. I'd also like to see Maxx, Wol, Maye, Donavahn, IF each get a 100 yards through the air. I'd be happy with a 1,000 yard game. :)

Yes, Cobb is a beast and I love it!

If Cobb had been getting more TD's rather than Leidner punching most of them in, would he be in serious Heisman talks?

Maybe, but if Cobb had broken some more long runs, and those went for touchdowns, he'd be getting a lot of consideration.

As a comparison, Melvin Gordon is 3rd in the Heisman Watch on ESPN.

Gordon has 13 rushing touchdowns, and Cobb has 5.

Gordon has 1046 yards on 132 carries, and Cobb has 1013 yards on 189 carries.

If Cobb had 15 touchdowns, you might be able to make the case, but he'd probably still need to raise his YPC a little bit. Maybe not to the 7.9 ypc that Gordon has, but at least up to 6.5-7.0

Fair enough. So like Iceland said, he would really need 2 or 3 long TD runs in addition to those goal line TD's to be considered.

Cobb is going to have to continue to put up yards the way the boston college kid did last year. I don't think he was in any conversations until about week 11.

He ran for over 2000, if cobb hits 1800 you'll start hearing his name. Could need less or more depending on team success.

Don't think he has the chance to win it with so few touchdowns. Would be cool if he kept putting up numbers and somehow got invited to New York though.

Thomas Rawls, the "other guy" in the top 5 is a Michigan transfer.

Would he deserve to be in the talks? Yes.

But my gut says no because the Heisman is an ESPN-driven circle jerk. Minnesota has not changed enough perceptions yet. We are a "perennial bottom-feeder in the worst Big Five conference."
