No one has forgotten about Gabby Giffords. She wasn’t shot by a Republican. She was shot by a nutbag that had a lot of random beliefs, including a hatred of government and G W Bush.

Not even a good attempt at tarring the GOP with a violent act, jam jam.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jared_Lee_Loughner

Records show that Loughner was registered as an independent and voted in 2006 and 2008, but not in 2010.

Loughner's high-school friend Zach Osler said, "He did not watch TV; he disliked the news; he didn't listen to political radio; he didn't take sides; he wasn't on the Left; he wasn't on the Right." A former classmate, Caitie Parker, who attended high school and college with Loughner, described his political views – prior to his 2007 personality transformation – as "left wing, quite liberal." The tone of Loughner's online writings and videos from immediately before the attack were described by an opinion piece of The Guardian as "almost exclusively conservative and anti-government, with echoes of the populist campaigning of the Tea Party movement".

Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center said that Loughner's position that currency not backed by a gold or silver standard is worthless was a "hallmark of the far right and the militia movement." Jesse Walker of the American libertarian magazine Reason expressed deep skepticism at the connections drawn by Potok. In the aftermath of the shooting, the Anti-Defamation League reviewed messages by Loughner, and concluded that there was a "disjointed theme that runs through Loughner's writings", which was a "distrust for and dislike of the government." It "manifested itself in various ways" – for instance, in the belief that the government used the control of language and grammar to brainwash people, the notion that the government was creating "infinite currency" without the backing of gold and silver, or the assertion that NASA was faking spaceflights.[43]

Dislike for Gabrielle Giffords
According to a former friend, Bryce Tierney, Loughner had expressed a longstanding dislike for Gabrielle Giffords. Tierney recalled that Loughner had often said that women should not hold positions of power.[45][46] He repeatedly derided Giffords as a "fake". This belief intensified after he attended her August 25, 2007 event when she did not, in his view, sufficiently answer his question: "What is government if words have no meaning?" Loughner kept Giffords' form letter, which thanked him for attending the 2007 event, in the same box as an envelope which was scrawled with phrases like "die bitch" and "assassination plans have been made". Zane Gutierrez, a friend, later told The New York Times that Loughner's anger would also "well up at the sight of President George W. Bush, or in discussing what he considered to be the nefarious designs of government."
Both the shooters are most likely mentally ill, murderer. The two primary takeaways are that politicians from both parties have been shot in recent years and when someone who is mentally ill has easy access to a firearm (e.g. A-15), tragic things happen.

Secondly, you conveniently ignored my comments on the role that your president has played in the current climate of incivility in this country.

So, Trump is making libs violent.

"When they go high, we go low". Or was that the other way around?

I agree, they were both mentally ill. Who else would do such things? But Hodgkinson was a Democrat and had little indication that he was a wacko. The Giffords shooter had a mental history. Own it, he’s one of yours that snapped.

The main problem is that Democrats, like Maxine Waters, Sen Booker, Sen Hirono, Eric Holder, and Hillary Clinton are sending a message to be uncivil. Hodgkinson types take their words seriously, and decide to do something about it. And it will happen again if the Democrats don’t tone it down. Sen Gillibrand is hanging with Linda Sarsour, a known radical and anti-Semite. That’s equivalent to a Republican Senator hanging with a KKK leader, but the media doesn’t care b/c she’s one of theirs.

I didn’t ignore your comments about Trump. Trump has been aggressive about defending himself against media and Dem attacks, and is definitively not PC. But other than the few times that he encouraged people to be physically removed from his campaign events, he hasn’t called for violence. He hasn’t said “get up in congressmen’s faces”, if you see them gasing their cars up, confront them, and he hasn’t called for Trump supporters to go after Democrats in public situations.

Most importantly, Dems haven’t condemn these acts of violence as issues with our public discourse. Instead, they’ve just blamed Trump and not taken responsibility for mob assaults GOP politicians in public, in restaurants, in the halls of the Capitol. Dems haven’t told the radicals to stop. It’s complicity and passive approval.

But Dem politicians haven’t discouraged it. They just say Trump started it.

I haven’t see Trump supporters assault Democrat politicians. When the media was calling the Tea Party and 2009 congressmen’s townhalls “mobs”, politicians weren’t being confronted in restaurants, in public, etc. They were confronted in the townhall meetings. A New Jersey Republican congressman was followed home after his townhall last spring.

There is a violent left wing mob called Antifa, which started the "punch a nazi" meme, and which the media and Democrats are ignoring. I could care less if Hillary wants to get on her high horse and act like she's the leader of anything. Antifa and the radical left are a huge problem that must be dealt with.

Yes, Antifa is a problem. They'd be gone right now if the media wasn't complicit and actually did their job

You couldn't care less

I didn't say how many knuckleheads are out there :)

And it's indirectly Trump's fault. A lot of these people don't know what adulthood was like without Obama as President. He was their god. They don't know what to do with themselves with out their idol. So they think they are a resistance

...Legally protected protest is safe. It’s consistent with the best traditions of American dissent. It’s truly what “democracy looks like.” Mob action, by contrast, is dangerous. It creates imminent risk of personal harm. It’s designed to frighten and intimidate. There is no place for the mob in a constitutional republic...

The MSM are racists!!
As clever as you think you are being, the RW media lost their collective minds when the Obamas had hip hop artists in the White House. When DJT does it, and he only does it because this artist name drops him, it is OK. Ted Nugent giving the finger to a portrait is OK. DJT encourages and allows this nonsense. The idea that Lefties are the only uncivil people is a fantasy, and in this case the crudeness starts at the top.

No one said that “Lefties are the only uncivil people”, but there’s a big difference between crude language and instructing other Lefties to “get up into congresspeople’s faces” or tacitly supporting mob actions against politicians.
