Trump's huge advantage is that he never has to make sense. All he has to do is go blah blah blah, and the cult mobilizes for him. I've been saying for some time that he's as big a threat to conservatism as he is in general.
I hate to draw this (maybe?) semi-parallel ... but we're seeing something similar-ish to the same phenomena with the Gamestop stuff.

The power of regular folks, when acting in a bloc/collective, is very huge. But it's of course hard to harness them in such a coordinated fashion, usually. Anger seems to be the easiest way, sometimes. So when it does happen ... I don't know, maybe people get drunk on the power of wielding this excalibur sword to smash something that otherwise can't be smashed??

Good story on the tension in the GOP between fear of Trump's wrath and being sensible

I think the idea is that only a total repudiation of the current state of the GOP will convince the party to abandon Trumpism forever. Beating Trump is no good if the party continues to be dominated by Don Jr and Charlie Kirk and QAnon adherents
That’s just idiotic. Don Jr and Charlie Kirk don’t dominate the party NOW. If Trump loses they certainly won’t
there are principled republicans who oppose trump. That’s fine. We need to destroy the moderates to make sure Don Jr isn’t running the party? That makes no sense. But if I was a Dem, I’d love it too.

That is just an absolutely crazy notion; that people thought things were going great, a booming economy, unemployment at an all-time low, an epic time for small business, minorities doing better than they ever have before the pandemic hit.

Crazy concept, huh?

The nutjobs want to make this about Trump or Trumpism or Trump cultists when in reality maybe there's just a whole lot of people who thought the country was doing f'ng incredible after 3 years of the previous administration.

Can't possibly be something like THAT though, could it...

Our president should be in a long-term care facility and the our vice president is so detestable that even Democrat primary voters were horrified by her. What a bizarre time to be alive.

And, yet, even in his sleepy deteriorated state, I'm assured elsewhere here Joe is going to institute socialism in a fortnight.

I wonder if they'll stop. Trump and company kept using music at their QAnon rallies after owners of the music asked them to stop. I think that's the set precedent.
