It looks like East Ridge 6-6 sophomore Kendall Brown could become a McDonald’s All-America basketball player in two years. Pitino and his entire Gophers staff were at East Ridge last week to watch Brown and junior teammate Ben Carlson. Also there were coaches from Northwestern, Oregon and Arizona.

D1 Minnesota forward Kendall Brown is regarded as one of the top class of 2021 prospects in the nation and for good reason. Brown’s versatility makes him a very tough matchup and he continues to expand his game. He spoke about what makes him a special prospect and much more.
Q: What would you say has made this team so successful?
A: “We really focus on our defense and that’s what pride ourselves off of. If we bring it on the defensive side, we will have many victories to follow.”
Q: How would you describe the talent here at the Adidas Gauntlet?
A: “It’s really aggressive with a lot of big bodies and you can’t be soft with the ball. They are going to attack you.”
Q: What schools have been really active with you?
A: “Oregon, Indiana, Ohio State, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota and the list goes on.”
Q: What visits have you gone on so far?
A: “I’ve gone on visits to Creighton, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Minnesota and Saint Louis.”
Q: You have a mix of schools recruiting you from all over. Is location a factor for you?
A: “Location is a factor, but it’s about whatever school best fits me. The connection I have with the coaches and the people around me is what really matters.”
Q: What would you say makes you stand out as a prospect?
A: “I would say I’m a big guard so I can get players the ball with easy dunks and easy threes. I can score the ball and I’m really good in transition. I’m also a tough matchup with my size.”

“I decided to transfer cause I thought it was the best move for me in the future, my ultimate goal is to get to the NBA and what Sunrise has going on down there I seen that it was best fit for me down there,” Brown told Stockrisers.
Brown has seen his recruitment flow very quickly, has landed several high-majors including the most recent offer, Kansas.
He also has several other schools showing new interest that could likely pull the trigger and offer:
“New interest would be Michigan, Oregon, Arkansas, and Maryland and Wake Forest which those two just offered.”
Illinois, Iowa State, Baylor, Nebraska, Texas, Iowa, among those plus others involved.
“My recruitment, I feel, is only going to get better the next couple months especially down at USA camp it’s like an extra live period for coaches to come and watch.”
