In addition to money designed to save his DC hotel, Trump wants money for a west wing remodel on the next covid relief bill.

You can't make this shit up.

This stuff is the best you've got? Seriously, we're supposed to be outraged that Trump is including some Govt infrastructure in a stimulus bill? Are you guys unaware of the stuff Pelosi tried to inject into the bill last time?

Start here and work your way back. https://www.forums.gopherhole.com/boards/threads/all-things-drain-the-swamp.88660/post-2019546

Trump stopped a plan to build the new HQ in the burbs because it would hurt his hotel, and now he's trying to force the funding for construction in its current location thru COVID relief.

You and your ilk would be apoplectic if Clinton or Obama did this.

You had been assiduously avoiding this thread, but it's full of this type of corruption

No, that's not true. The Democrats claim that's the reason. You've lost the ability to tell the difference. Maybe, after a few years in DC, Trump now realizes it makes sense to keep it in DC? Maybe it'll be cheaper than an entire new building? Maybe he wants to keep the entire DOJ together in DC, and not spread it out? Who knows? What's certain, is that there's no credible reason to believe this is some sort of corrupt intention. That's just TDS at work again. A lot of people put a lot of pet projects in these bills. Lord knows the Democrats sure do. At least a new FBI building is something that will tangibly benefit the country.

First off, this is just bull****. I know it, you know it, everyone knows it.

Second, even as bull****, WHY would it be in a COVID relief bill??

No, it's not bullsh*t. When people make wild allegations like that, it's up to them to prove them, not the other person to disprove a negative. So prove the allegations if you can? Otherwise...

It's in Covid relief package for the same reason mail-voting was in the Covid relief package, or that community groups would harvest the mail-in ballots was in the Covid relief package, or that $25 million to the Kennedy Center for the Arts was in the Covid relief package, or that the National Endowment for the Arts got $75 million in the Covid relief package, or why NPR got millions in the Covid relief package. It's because politicians put pork into bills. No one would be happier than me if everyone stopped, but the Democrats certainly have no intention of stopping.

Everyone agrees the new plan is costlier and less secure. This from 2 years ago

Sickening. Trump is an absolute disgrace.
This would be a 2 month long, every night on cable TV, scandal under any other President. With this guy's it's just, yep, that's how he operates

Yup. It would be a massive scandal for any other president. But Trump is such a swamp monster.....and has been horrendously corrupt without so much as a peep from his loyal subjects.....that these things simply don't matter anymore.

Fortunately there are those on the right (none on the OTB) that have principles....and are jumping ship. Good for them.

Sean Hannity could get >60 episodes of material out of it if Obama had done this for sure. Beeg would dispatch a special team of researchers.

Did you know that DC was built in a swamp that was filled in?

"WASHINGTON — The Trump administration wants $377 million in the next coronavirus relief bill for a long-delayed modernization of the West Wing, but the timetable for construction is yet to be determined.
The sum, included in the draft aid legislation from Senate Republicans, would also cover a new security screening facility for the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in the White House complex.
While lawmakers, including Republicans, have balked at the administration's request for more than $1 billion in the bill for a new FBI headquarters in Washington, the West Wing plan has drawn relatively little scrutiny. The administration says the White House work would “increase the White House campus’s ability to detect, mitigate and alleviate external security and pandemic threats."

The West Wing has not had a full modernization since 1933, according to the General Services Administration, which maintains most of the White House complex and would handle the upgrades. Renovations have been planned and delayed by previous administrations — most recently by President Barack Obama in 2013 — in part because no president has wanted to temporarily give up the Oval Office for months or longer to allow for the substantial work to be done.

A) Congrats on the other unrelated pork. Really makes your case that Trump is an awesome President.

B) I see you've managed to completely change the subject away from the FBI building and the email from a Trump admin official that says their new plan is more expensive and less secure.
