I don’t really get why progs are more upset about a death where some kind of intervention may have prevented it, than direct action that caused a death. The former is akin to murder and the latter is not a big deal.
And is a cold spell a “climate disaster?” Or is it weather?
You just confused the ever living shit out of WALLACE! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Every weather related disaster is evidence of climate change if you’re a lefty. They gave up on the idea of global warming terminology solely b/c it was harder to reconcile extended or extreme cold spells.

You have to hand it to lefties, they are masters of bullshit rhetoric and logic.

Some simple planning would have made the cold weather in Texas insignificant. They choose allowing their political donors to make more money in the short term over preparedness.

Cuomo's actions were not to benefit his donors.

Negligence vs willful negligence for monetary benefit. Pretty simple really.

Ideally, companies are free to winterize or not. Those that saved money in the short run, might be out of business today. Those that planned ahead and winterized would have had a windfall over the last month.
no guarantee an ice storm of the magnitude they had in TX would ever happen. It would have been wasted money preparing. Worth it to spend extra to be safe? There are infinite things we can spend money on to prepare for low probability disasters. “Government regulators recommended it”. What don’t they recommend? They aren’t the ones spending the money.

your characterization of Cuomo is a joke.

Stupid...
Without regulation Private companies will rarely spend money to prepare for a disaster because the government will just bail them out. Its been a story repeated over and over in the markets since Republicans around the time of Regan started deregulating everything. Boom based on predatory practices then bust, housing market crash, Boeing another good example, this month in Texas more of the same.

The companies that prepare can't compete with the low budget greed that pervades a regulation free market. Critical infrastructure both physical and financial needs to be regulated.

When you introduce government bailouts, its no longer a market economy and it’s not something I support.

Does this mean Cuomo won't be president in 2024?
