Chet’s not staying home

"I've talked to him already," the 7-foot-1 Holmgren said of Johnson. "I haven't heard anything bad about him. From my experience, he's a really good guy. I see him doing really good things."

Holmgren, who had 24 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists Friday, said Johnson texted him first this week. They then spoke over the phone, but their relationship had already been established previously.

"He reached out to me when he was at Xavier, too," Holmgren said about where Johnson was an assistant the last three years.
"A lot of things have already been said."

Gonzaga still appears to be the favorite to land Holmgren, according to multiple recruiting services. The Zags signed five-star point guard Hunter Sallis on Friday. They're also playing in the Sweet 16 with Holmgren's former teammate and freshman sensation Jalen Suggs.

Chet views the Gophers the same way he views Xavier, is what I get from that.

I might be wrong, but hasn't Mychal stayed pretty disconnected from the U and the state since graduating? Certainly not mad about this tweet, just very unexpected lol.
He's probably pumped about Ben Johnson

Thanks for posting this. Covid robbed us of our chance to watch Chet in his last year of high school and AAU - this helps a bit. Wouldn't it awesome if . . .
Every Minnehaha game has been streamed live...

Chet is the man. Love his game obviously. Seems like a smart kid. The best shot blocker I’ve seen in high school. Maintains verticality, doesn’t “chase” blocks and leave the weak side rebounds or commit dumb fouls like so many prolific shot blockers do.

At the end of the day Chet will go where he thinks he fits. I don’t think he will be a Gopher but I really wish him well. Fun to watch.

Come on Chet. You don’t want to play for a punk team that isn’t in a real conference. Playing 90% of your games against weak competition is not how you develop talent or get better. To be the best, you have to play against the best.
