Will the Gophers have a 2022 NFL Draft bonanza?

Really depends on the kind of year he has this year. He was still very raw the last time he played and that was quite a while ago at this point. But if he has a great season I could see the NFL buzz being very strong with him given his size.

All Things Gophers Basketball Class of 2022 Recruiting Thread

Deep breaths....the 2022 cycle is just getting going. Johnson is new and recruits have not had a chance to see how the team will play with him as coach so they are not just going to dive at the chance to join a system that may or may not match their style of play.

Hey! Look at who is back in the transfer portal and who else just entered it

I wouldn't put a ton of stock in interest and offer lists for players in the portal. I think a lot of that is just guessing on the part of places like 247 unless a player just flat out comes out with a list of schools which many won't. Part of the slow down in roster additions right now might...

Will the Gophers have a 2022 NFL Draft bonanza?

It will certainly be interesting to see who declares and who doesn't but seems like odds are good this could be one of our biggest draft classes ever. Pretty good chance we top the 5 from 2020. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Minnesota_Golden_Gophers_in_the_NFL_Draft

    Assistant Coaches

I don't think it is fair to chalk it up to racism over the hiring of a black coach. We have had black coaches with the basketball program in the past and they have been loved by fans. When Tubby Smith was hired you would have been hard pressed to find many people that didn't love the hire...

Which current Gopher is their best player?

Ihnen is a tough guy to figure out. Agree that he has a really great skill set and could be a guy that could really step up and become a star for this team. His 3 point shooting went in the tank last season (he was not alone in that regard on this team). 2 years ago he shot closer to 40% from...

Which current Gopher is their best player?

Disagree that we never saw what he was capable of last year. He was in double figures scoring in each of the first 6 games and fell one rebound short of a double/double against North Dakaota and Boston College. Granted he did his damage against weaker competition in general but he started the...

    Assistant Coaches

Fans get all upset when a local kid leaves but this idea applies to that scenario as well. Coaches are not going to go hard after a kid in recruiting if it is clear they just don't want to be there. The other thing that happens is that a player might change their mind about a place once they...

    Braelen Oliver Recovery

Yeah, I think that is the first time the full scope of the injury has been made public, makes total sense why he still is not back at 100%. Really excited to see what he can do. He had the look of being a potential star before he got hurt.

Watching the spring game... Annexstad is impressive!

Not really the place for a Wisconsin discussion but I think it is a bit early to be referring to a guy who has yet to crack 100 yards in a game as great. Berger certainly has potential but has a ways to go before being viewed as the next great Wisconsin Running Back. edit: I see PE was...

    Ben Johnson Q&A Instagram Live

Did you watch the video or just read San Diego's comment? He talks about how he wants to play but he also admits that they are still filling out the roster and some of what they want to do is going to be dictated by the personnel. Obviously he has a vision for the program and was able to sell...

Which current Gopher is their best player?

He looked really good early in the year and then he just vanished. Hopefully he can rediscover whatever that was we saw early as he looked like he was going to be a really fun player to watch.

    Transfers from last years team...

True, but based on how the tournament played out I think some of those ranked teams were not quite as good as people thought they were at the time. Still, the team was looking pretty good early before the wheels just totally fell off....

    Transfers from last years team...

Still don't know how anyone can definitely say right now that we are going to see a huge drop off in talent next year. The guys coming in were all top players on their old teams, and the bar for being better than last season is pretty low. The 20-21 team had some decent pieces but they played...

Which current Gopher is their best player?

The superstars made out ok. The guys I feel bad for are those 2nd and 3rd tier guys that didn't make much money at all back in the day whereas now you see scrubs getting huge contracts. There is just so much more money in the system now with the massive TV deals.

5 observations from Minnesota's spring game on Saturday ("Welcome back to B1G West contention, Minnesota.")

Boyd certainly looked the part in the Spring Game. Very curious to see what Simon can do with Wright as well. WR is very low on my list of concerns as I think we will be just fine there. Honestly, outside of the uncertainty in the kicking game, I feel pretty good about where the team is at...

Which current Gopher is their best player?

Guessing MJ more than made up for that deficiency in salary with his endorsement money. But it has to kill the old players to see the kind of money the more current players are making.

Which current Gopher is their best player?

I mean at this point all anyone could do is just take a wild guess. It is probably Battle or Fox but until we see these guys on the court together I really don't see how anyone could know for sure. If Carr were to come back he would be the obvious choice but given that is unlikely to happen I...

    [Post Game] Spring Game Reactions

Our passing game under Mason was better than a lot of people gave it credit for. It wasn't a very creative passing game but they were good at what they were asked to do and took advantage of defenses loading up on the run. The Mason years teams struggled with teams that were able to contain...

    [Post Game] Spring Game Reactions

A big part of why our offense was great in 2019 was that when teams stacked the box we threw and when they dropped back in coverage we ran. You obviously have to have skill in both areas to be successful but the two do go hand in hand. If you can force the safeties to need to come up and stop...
