Eric Musselman would be my number one choice but I doubt any chance.
I would take Gates in a heartbeat. To get a great coach the Gophers will have to take a chance. The bad news, If he's as good as we hope he, will only be around long enough to prove it anyway then he'll get hired away..
Whoever the coach is, put Harvey Mackay in charge of recruiting and train the whole staff on the meaning of "plausible deniability." With adequate funding this will work......I expect Baylor is a good example of this....unless all these players dreamed of going to a Baptist school in Waco, Texas.
Long time Gopher fan and I will continue to be that but I don't think there's a coach alive that could make Minnesota B-Ball Elite. I'm afraid any great coach would be "mediocre" in a short time because he wouldn't get the players.
Not sure what it is, but Minnesota can't compete for enough...
I've never believed they don't cheat to some extent.....especially when they had a Japanese player who, as a sophomore, said that last year as a freshman he couldn't understand 70% of what he heard. (I'm paraphrasing but that's what he said)
I thought it was time to have a thread on JD Spielman.
I expect there will be some news in the near future and I'm tired of checking the original thread only to see posts that have absolutely nothing to do with JD.
