Winona State University head football coach Brian Bergstrom has announced the addition of a new coach to the WSU football program.

Joining Bergstrom and the Warrior staff is Jalen Myrick, a former University of Minnesota defensive back.

Coach Bergstrom noted, "We are beyond excited to add Coach Myrick to our staff coaching the wide receivers. He has played at a high level, been coached by some of the best in the business and is very knowledgeable and personable. He will grow quickly as a young coach and will be an amazing fit on our staff."

For the Gophers, Myrick played under head coach Tracy Claeys between 2013-2016, lining up in the secondary. In the 2016 season at Minnesota, the Bloomingdale, Ga. product started all 13 games, had 41 tackles and 11 pass breakups. Following his time in Minneapolis, Myrick set a Big 10 NFL combine record in the 40-yard dash, running a 4.28 time in Indianapolis in 2017.

Myrick was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft as the 222nd pick overall. Following his stint with the Jaguars, Myrick was signed by the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 and later by the Atlanta Falcons in 2019. In addition to his NFL experience, the former Savannah Christian Prep standout also was drafted into the XFL in 2020 by the DC Defenders.

Go Gophers!!
