For the second week in a row, Adam Wilcox of the top-ranked Gopher hockey program has earned weekly accolades from the Big Ten Conference – picking up the league’s Second Star of the Week on Tuesday morning.

Wilcox, who leads the Big Ten and is second nationally with 18 wins this season, recorded a .959 save percentage and a 0.96 goals-against average over the weekend as Minnesota claimed four out of six points last weekend against Michigan State.

The South St. Paul, Minn., native is now unbeaten in his last 14 games – the longest active streak in the nation. Wilcox closed out the weekend with his third shutout of the season (and sixth as a Gopher) with a 1-0 clean sheet over the Spartans on Saturday.

Minnesota has now earned Big Ten honors in each of the team’s 13 weeks of competition this season – Minnesota’s first in the Big Ten Conference. The Gophers have now earned a total of 16 weekly honors from nine different players. Wilcox has now earned three weekly honors from the league.

The top-ranked Gophers return to action this weekend at No. 12 Wisconsin in a rare Thursday-Friday series. Thursday’s series opener is set for 7:30 p.m. CT while Friday’s finale is set for 8 p.m. Both games will be televised on the Big Ten Network and streamed on BTN2Go.com with radio broadcasts for both games on 1500 ESPN.
