Lakes and Plains
Lakes: Minnesota and the Michigan schools are known for lakes, plus Northwestern is on a lake. Admittedly a stretch for schools like Nebraska and Iowa but the ACC's Coastal division contains teams that aren't exactly coastal.
Plains: Wisconsin is a dairy state, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois are schools that the plains name could apply to. PSU is a bit of a stretch being in sight of Mt. Nittany, etc.
