Buckeyes Wire is first out of the gate:

The reason for the ranking

Minnesota was off this week so there wasn’t anything we can take from what we saw on the field. So far, the Golden Gophers have looked really good at times, and befuddling at others. That’s probably what we’ll see the rest of the year, so we’ll boost Minnesota one spot more on what Rutgers couldn’t do rather than the faith we have in where this team is headed.

Yahoo Sports chimes in:

8. Minnesota

Previous power ranking: No. 7 (down one spot)

Record:
3-2 (1-1 in Big Ten)

This week’s result: Bye

The Golden Gophers were leapfrogged by rival Wisconsin this weekend, and slide down one spot in these rankings despite not playing. The Golden Gophers have a big-time matchup with Nebraska this upcoming weekend.

Wolverines Wire chimes in:

9. Minnesota

Minnesota was idle this week, which is really good timing, considering the Jekyll and Hyde nature of this team. The defense has stood tall at times. While running back Treyson Potts has been the star on offense, the Gophers need to figure out something to get Tanner Morgan going.

Still, it moves down a spot this week, by nothing of its own doing.

Go Gophers!!

Badgers Wire chimes in:

10. Minnesota (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) -- down 1
Sep 2, 2021; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Gophers running back Bryce Williams (21) reacts after scoring a touchdown during the fourth quarter against the Ohio State Buckeyes at Huntington Bank Stadium.
