Nittany Lions Wire is first out of the gate:

7. Minnesota

Last game: Lost to Purdue, 20-10

Last week: 4

The Gophers certainly take a step back this week after struggling without Mohamed Ibrahim against Purdue. Tanner Morgan couldn’t pick up the slack with three interceptions thrown and suddenly Minnesota looked vulnerable.

Next game: at Illinois (Week 7)

Wolverines Wire chimes in:

5. Minnesota

Just as Minnesota started to look like Cinderella in the Big Ten, the Gophers went out and dropped the ball.

Or, rather, they threw the ball to the other team.

Tanner Morgan threw three interceptions while the Gopher rushing attack stalled out entirely against the Boilermaker defense. Minnesota managed only 47 yards on the ground in a home game. That, mixed with a bevy of turnovers was a recipe for disaster.

Minnesota still has solid standing in the West, given the other teams around them, and it only has Penn State as a tough Big Ten East game, but this was a disheartening showing from a team that looked like a possible contender in the conference.

Illini Corner chimes in:

7) Minnesota (4-1) — Last week: 4

Well, Minnesota was the Big Ten West favorite for one week at least. The Gophers must not have handled the spotlight and ranking well as the offense managed just 41 rushing yards and Tanner Morgan threw three picks in a 20-10 home loss to Purdue. Mo Ibrahim’s absence due to an ankle injury certainly hurt, but the Gophers defense also missed tackles and got run over by a Purdue offense not known for its rushing attack. Minnesota is a good, well-rounded team but opened the door for the rest of the West by dropping a home game.

This week: OFF
