That is so awesome.
As someone who has coached youth basketball for 7 years and counting, it is little moments like that that truly stand out. I have numerous examples of families/players who I coached hundreds of hours during a given season, that barely say thank you after a season is over. And I have a few instances like the above, that truly stick with me and sadly, they are often from the kids who just aren't as talented but truly love being part of a team. I still get hugs from some of these kids who I haven't coached in 4-5 years, but some kids who I have spent years coaching, they barely acknowledge the time put in at the end of the season.
