This is like recruiting signing day for conferences. Boise St. to...

I considered the possibility that the remnants of the Big 12 would take the top of the MWC and WAC - that way they wouldn't have to deal with the bottom teams of the MWC and WAC. But it's looking more like the MWC is going to absorb the remnants of the Big 12, and will take the Big 12's place as a BCS conference - the PAC 10 is NOT getting two automatic BCS bids.

Here's my prediction: The Texahoma schools go where ever they are going to go, the Big 12 remnants get folded into the MWC, and the MWC gives itself a new name to better market itself.

The Big 12 is completely hosed right now. No one is going to jump on a ship that might be sinking.

The Big 12 is theoretically salvagable. If Texas wanted to stay, the Big 12 could easily expand and survive. But it's nearly a certainty that Texas will leave, and the conference will continue taking on water until Texas makes a decision. The remnant could, if they had the will, choose to add teams. But by then it will be so weak that schools are going to be a lot more concerned about getting a good conference for their own school than in whether or not the Big 12 survives.

The Big 12 has only been around since the 90's, it's not like it has deep roots.
