Was looking at the Goohers SOS this year and it’s obviously low because it almost always is in the non-conference. However, per basketball reference, the Gophers three highest SOS ever were the last three seasons.

Seems odd and I don’t know how they calculate it but I wonder how much of that is due a very solid big ten lately? Just surprised me to see it was the last three seasons as the toughest ever.

I believe it has to do with the increased B1G schedule and tough scheduling.

2019-2020 Pitino loaded up the non-conference with 6 out of 10 games against Power 6 teams. So 26/30 (87%) overall were against the Power 6. Last year, we only played 7 non-conference games due to Covid and one was Power 6, so 21/27 (77%) were Power 6. This year it will be 22/30 or 73%.

But the B1G has usually been at 16 or 18 games so a typical year would have been 19 or 20 out of 30.
