I know this hasn't been reported here, but on the Minnesota scout page a poster from Illinois reported that Phillips was suspended the first three weeks and subsequently kicked off the team because he was failing all six classes he was in a month into the school year. It's too bad because he is such a good talent and seems to be throwing it all away.

He was suspended for legal troubles this summer which was already known. In Minnesota if a student is caught with drugs, alcohol, etc they have to sit out for a few games too.

I have no idea if the rest of the info is accurate but if it is true it has yet to be reported in a news paper.
