I thought it was interesting that Adam Rittenberg on ESPN.com had our secondary and linebackers ranked #6 in the Big 10. That's a helluva lot higher than most of the "experts" rank those units. I also think's it's much closer to where we will finish in the conference record-wise than the 9-11th that we are usually ranked by those guys.

Overall more solid work by Rittenberg.

He doesn't mention that we lost Brock, which is a Huge loss for the Gophers and I pray Royston can replace him. Maybe Dandridge/Carter will step up in his absence. I know Carter is a cb But I've heard he has been used some as a free lancing "FS" ballhawk basically playing a CF for the Gophers interesting idea there to utilize his great cover/ball skills and shy away from his weakness (size).

Despite the loss of Brock, we have some young guys who have some serious promise. I haven't felt this good about our secondary in August for many years, but we all know that's not saying much.

I think the area where we are going to see a huge upgrade, though, is linebacker. We have some STUDS coming up right now and the guys who played last year were very solid.

I think our D is very solid. We even pick up depth. If we can keep our TOP is balance I think this will be the best D we've seen for a very long time in Minny.
